Tips for new bloggers by bloggers
- Get involved! Speak to bloggers, most are more than happy to offer help and advice! Andrea, @loveandcakeblog
- Write about what you WANT to write about rather than what you think you should write about. Lauren, Belle Du Brighton
- Blog primarily for yourself, not to ‘fit in’ with anyone/anything else or try and do it for rewards. Start as ‘you’ and the rest will follow! Kaz,The Little Life of Ickle Pickle
- If you don’t feel like doing it one day, don’t. Readers will respect you more for quality than quantity. Jo, Ojo’s World
- Don’t get caught up in worrying about rankings Louise, A Strong Coffee
- Remember it’s your blog and no one else’s, so don’t feel you have to do what other say! Emma, Bubba Blue and Me
- Copy and paste is your enemy – always be original and never use anything you haven’t written, photographed or come up with yourself without permission no matter how fab or useful you think it might be. Jaime, The Oliver’s Madhouse
- Try to find something unique, or as unique as possible, to blog about so you stand out. Don’t be one of the crowd. The DADventurer,@The_dadventurer
- Don’t compare yourself to others, it’s very destructive. Also, you don’t need the best camera ever, just use natural light as much as possible, take your time framing shots and you can do nicely with even a phone camera to begin with. Laura, Petitmoi Big World
- Be yourself, find your own voice and don’t try to imitate anyone else. Be the best you, rather than a poor copy. Michelle, Mummy from the heart
- Don’t take on reviews just for the sake of it. Wait until something comes along that you are passionate about. Also, don’t go looking at everyone else’s blogs comparing yourself. Be unique and don’t be afraid to write what you think/feel. Always remember why you started writing and if you get lost, go back to the beginning and start again. Helen, Two Monsters and Me
- Decide what you want to write about and focus on that. It’s ok if your blog changes direction as your family gets older or their interests change, but it’s good to have a focus. Jennifer, My Mummy’s Pennies
- Do what makes you happy and write for you. Clare, Emmy’s Mummy
- Don’t be afraid to turn down opportunities if they’re not right for your blog. Anna, In the playroom
- Take backups of your blog. Jax, Live Otherwise
- Make your social media easy to find and follow – no good hiding your twitter handle in your ‘about me/contact me’ section. Get it on your side bar, nice and obvious. Colette, Going on an adventure
- It can take a while to find your ‘voice’, so just enjoy the process and don’t worry too much about readership figures etc! Also, make your contact information nice and clear! Nadine, Juggle Mum
- Don’t expect reviews and opportunities right away, they’ll come in time. Cass, Frugal Family

Now I know this is an old post of yours but I think it is amazing that you got these wonderful tips for new bloggers by bloggers as it comes from people who are in the blogging world first hand, rather than someone trying to just give advice that isn’t meaningful. I will happily share this via twitter, as it is a post that needs to be shared again !! x
