I Ran The London Marathon 2019

I am officially a marathon runner! Last weekend, Sunday 28th April 2019, I actually ran and completed the London Marathon. I still can’t quite believe it! Although it was only last weekend it seems like a lifetime ago and I’ve discovered that the marathon blues do exist! My training went pretty well. There were a few hiccups along the way, piriformis syndrome, a twisted ankle and a pretty nasty blister, but all in all I’d have to say that my training went well. I ran 20 miles in 3 hours and 45 minutes which I was pretty pleased with and… [Read More]

London Marathon Training Update

It’s been a while since my last training update so I thought it was about time that I wrote a quick update. In my last fundraising update, which you can read here, I was excited to be able to tell you that I have now reached my fundraising target of £1,600 for WellChild, the national charity for sick children. My last actual training update was back in September. You can read it here. In this post I expressed concerns about being injured. I was due to run the Cardiff half marathon in October and although I was pretty sure I’d be… [Read More]

An Extra Special London Marathon Fundraising Update That You Won’t Want To Miss!

Phew, that was a rather long title for a blog post! It’s worth it though because this really is an extra special London marathon fundraising update that you won’t want to miss! As many people who read my blog or follow me on social media will know, I’ve been lucky enough to receive a charity place at the London marathon 2019 with a wonderful charity called WellChild. WellChild is the national UK children’s charity making it possible for children and young people with exceptional health needs to be cared for at home instead of hospital, wherever possible. When I was offered… [Read More]

A month of strength training

Yesterday I wrote a post about how my step-daughter and I completed the Cardiff Half Marathon on the 7th of this month. You can read that post by clicking here. As many of my readers know I didn’t really train properly for the Cardiff Half Marathon due to injury. As such I really didn’t enjoy running it this year as much as I had the previous year. I put this down to being injured and a lack of training. Now, next year. April to be precise, I will be running the London Marathon for a wonderful charity called WellChild. I’m… [Read More]

Cardiff Half Marathon 2018

Last year I completed the Cardiff Half Marathon for the first time. Despite being injured during training, I recovered pretty well and completed it in 2 hours 29 minutes and 3 seconds. My original target was 2 hours 15 minutes, but after injury, I changed my target to 2 hours 30 minutes, and I was very pleased to have achieved that. I decided to take part in the Cardiff Half Marathon again this year in the hopes of getting a better time. Unfortunately during training, I was injured again. This year my injury was worse than last year. As such… [Read More]

Cardiff Half Marathon/London Marathon Training

I haven’t been able to run properly for around 5 to 6 weeks now. Unfortunately a few weeks back, I injured my leg and have been trying to my best (despite the odd ‘test’ run) to rest. Being injured is very frustrating, even more so when you’re training for an event. On October 7th, I’ll be running the Cardiff Half Marathon. I did it last year for the first time, and completed it in 2 hours 29 minutes and 3 seconds. I even got injured in training last year as well! This year, my goal is to complete the Cardiff… [Read More]

London Marathon Training Update

It dawned on me a few weeks ago that I’ve been so focused on fundraising for the London Marathon 2019 for my charity, WellChild, that I haven’t actually written an update on how my training is going. Whilst I written plenty of posts about how fundraising going, read my latest post here, I thought I’d write about my training. It may seem a little early to some to start training now, but my training is actually twofold. You see I’m also running the Cardiff Half Marathon in October 2018 for Cancer Research UK, so my training plan has started now… [Read More]

London Marathon 2019: Fundraising Update

It’s been almost one month since my first fundraising update so I thought I’d write another update with you to share my progress. In my last fundraising post, which you can read here, I shared the amazing news that I’d managed to raise £455.18. That’s 28% of my £1,600 fundraising target for WellChild. I’d managed to raise this amount my donating the first £100 myself, and then by sharing my fundraising page with friends and family. This saw some online donations come in. I also sold some items that I no longer needed, and made some crafts to sell. My… [Read More]
