LONDON MARATHON 2020? HELP!

I know, I know! I’ve already written a post about how I ran the London Marathon, but this one is slightly different. This one is about what you should do if your marathon didn’t quite go to plan. Before running the London Marathon I had completed the Cardiff Half Marathon twice along with some 5 and 10ks. The first time I ran the Cardiff Half Marathon I absolutely loved every minute of it. I wanted to get my time under 2 hours 30 and I did, just about! The second time I ran it, it didn’t quite go to plan… [Read More]

Things I didn’t know about running the London Marathon

If you haven’t read yesterdays blog post about how I ran the London Marathon please pop over and take a look. I’m also still accepting donations for WellChild. You can donate to my fundraising page online here. After waiting in line for the toilet for 10 minutes you may as well as re-join the queue as you’re guaranteed to need to go again in another ten minutes time Your shoes will stick to the floor as you run by the Lucozade stands You will be overtaken by someone in fancy dress There will always be someone who takes off like… [Read More]

I Ran The London Marathon 2019

I am officially a marathon runner! Last weekend, Sunday 28th April 2019, I actually ran and completed the London Marathon. I still can’t quite believe it! Although it was only last weekend it seems like a lifetime ago and I’ve discovered that the marathon blues do exist! My training went pretty well. There were a few hiccups along the way, piriformis syndrome, a twisted ankle and a pretty nasty blister, but all in all I’d have to say that my training went well. I ran 20 miles in 3 hours and 45 minutes which I was pretty pleased with and… [Read More]

London Marathon Training Update

It’s been a little while since I updated you on my training for the London Marathon so I thought I’d put another update post together. In my last update I wrote how I’d managed to injure my ankle, but thankfully everything is all healed now and I’m back on track. The London Marathon is just over five weeks away and I’m feeling very optimistic. My longest run to date is 18 miles and thankfully that went well. It’s a strange thing to think that I’m actually able to run such a long distance, but the training and nutrition has definitely… [Read More]

London Marathon Training Update

I wasn’t expecting to write another update post so soon after my last one at the end of January, but needs must! You can read my last update post here. My last two runs of January had to be completed on the treadmill because it was just too icy outside to risk slipping and getting injured. By the time my long run came around on the 2nd February there was still a bit of snow and ice on the ground, but the thought of running 7 miles on a treadmill bored me! I don’t mind running 5k on a treadmill,… [Read More]

My Running Playlist for the London Marathon 2019

Lots of people who run listen to music. I can’t imagine running without music. It helps me to get in the zone, takes my mind off how far I have to go, and it helps me to run faster. I’ve tried running without music, but I just find I run better with it. Plus I can’t stand listening to my heavy breathing! Over the past few months I’ve put together a running playlist made up of my favourite songs that really help motivate me when I run. Some of them are classics, some of them you may think of as… [Read More]

London Marathon Training Update

In just 90 days, I’ll be taking on my biggest challenge ever! The London Marathon! Having successfully completed two half marathons, a marathon just seemed like the next logical challenge. I signed up for the London Marathon ballot, but sadly didn’t get a ballot place. However, I was very lucky that in April 2018 I found out that I had been successful in gaining a charity place with WellChild, The National Charity for Sick Children. With a fundraising target of £1,600 and having to train properly for the marathon, I knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but what challenge… [Read More]

London Marathon Training Update

It’s been a while since my last training update so I thought it was about time that I wrote a quick update. In my last fundraising update, which you can read here, I was excited to be able to tell you that I have now reached my fundraising target of £1,600 for WellChild, the national charity for sick children. My last actual training update was back in September. You can read it here. In this post I expressed concerns about being injured. I was due to run the Cardiff half marathon in October and although I was pretty sure I’d be… [Read More]

An Extra Special London Marathon Fundraising Update That You Won’t Want To Miss!

Phew, that was a rather long title for a blog post! It’s worth it though because this really is an extra special London marathon fundraising update that you won’t want to miss! As many people who read my blog or follow me on social media will know, I’ve been lucky enough to receive a charity place at the London marathon 2019 with a wonderful charity called WellChild. WellChild is the national UK children’s charity making it possible for children and young people with exceptional health needs to be cared for at home instead of hospital, wherever possible. When I was offered… [Read More]
