London Marathon Training Update

I wasn’t expecting to write another update post so soon after my last one at the end of January, but needs must! You can read my last update post here.

My last two runs of January had to be completed on the treadmill because it was just too icy outside to risk slipping and getting injured.

By the time my long run came around on the 2nd February there was still a bit of snow and ice on the ground, but the thought of running 7 miles on a treadmill bored me!

I don’t mind running 5k on a treadmill, but anymore and I get bored. I’d much rather run outside, and the only time I’ll ever use a treadmill is if the weather really is atrocious.

Anyway, going back to my long run, I decided to venture outside and just do a few laps of a local park. I also decided before I set out that I’d just adjust my route accordingly if the snow and ice was too bad.

All was going to plan and as I was more focused on avoiding slipping on ice, I actually managed to maintain a pretty good pace.

7 miles later I arrived back home, hopped in the shower, and then when I got out of the shower I could feel a slight twinge in ankle.

As the day progressed it quickly became clear that I’d twisted my ankle. Oh no! I kind of think I know when it happened as one pavement was at a funny angle.

Thankfully, it’s not too bad and since that run on the 2nd February I’ve had a week of rest so I’m sure I’ll be back up and running again. I’m going to try 5k tomorrow with an ankle support and some KT tape.

I’ve rested it and iced as much as I can, and also bought an ankle support so I’m sure I’ll be back up and running again soon!
