Zoggs Water Wing Vest Review

Our twin girls are five years old and for as long as I can remember they have always enjoyed swimming. When they were babies my husband and I didn’t take them swimming very often. Mainly because when my husband worked, I couldn’t take them on my own and we’d usually spend weekends in the park or going for walks. However, as soon as the girls were old enough for me to take them swimming on my own, it’s something that I’ve been dong regularly. I think it’s so important for children to learn how to swim. In my opinion it’s… [Read More]

Learning to swim in Majorca

One of the best things that came out of our recent family holiday to Majorca was that our four year old twin girls learnt to swim.  My husband and I have taken the girls swimming previously in our local leisure centre, and I think it’s fair to say that they’re proper water babies! They love it!  It hasn’t always been that way though! When they were babies, baths weren’t their favourite thing in the world! Now though, they’d happily sit in the bath until the water is cold! Back to our holiday and our first day was spent by the… [Read More]

Our family holiday in Majorca. Part Two!

Following on from my last post about our family holiday in Majorca, this is part two! Day Four After a busy day yesterday at Marineland, we decided to have a lazy day by the pool today. One of the great things about being on holiday is that you don’t need to get up early or rush to have breakfast. It’s just there waiting for you when you’re ready! I always love that I can have a bit of a lie in on holiday, because the girls end up going to bed later than usual which means they usually wake up… [Read More]

A swimming trip on my own with our girls

I was so excited to be able to take our girls swimming on my own last week! Not because I didn’t want my husband to come with us, but because as a mum of twins I’ve never been able to taken them on my own before. All of my friends who have one baby enjoy weekly trips to the swimming pool whilst their husbands are at work, but because I have twins I’ve never been able to do to this. Our local leisure centre won’t allow one adult to take two children under the age of four swimming on their… [Read More]

2014 Summer Holidays

I realise it’s only just turned 2014 and yes I know we’re only in the second week of January, but I’m already planning ahead and thinking about where to go on our summer holiday! Last year we took our girls on their first holiday, thanks to my mother in law who kindly paid for us all to go to Minorca. This year, we won’t be going overseas as we’re trying to save a deposit up for a house, so we’ll go on holiday somewhere in the UK. I’ve been having a look online and a few places have taken my… [Read More]

Taking Your Child Swimming For The First Time

Image courtesy of arztsamui/freedigitalphotos.net Twin Daddy and I first took our girls swimming when they were around 6 months old. I was feeling quite nervous about it and I didn’t really know what to expect. We had a choice of two swimming pools in which we could have gone to. The nearest is at our local council run leisure centre. This is a good sized swimming pool and one that I used to go to frequently when I was growing up. It’s a cold water pool and starts out shallow so it gradually gets deeper. It also has a small… [Read More]

Our Twins First Holiday

Family

Outside Cardiff Airport We have not long returned from our twins first holiday. We went to Menorca. Well, eight of us went! There was Twin Daddy and his three children (my step children), my mother-in-law, the twins and of course myself!  We were up at 6am and after we all had some breakfast, we did some last minute packing and decided to give the girls their lunch an hour early so they could have a decent nap before we left at 12.30pm.  The journey to the airport went well and we were there within half an hour of leaving.  I was really surprised… [Read More]

Zoggs Swim Jacket Review

M enjoying an ice lolly in her Zoggs Swim Jacket Twin Daddy and I returned home from Menorca on Friday after a lovely 7 day holiday. We were lucky enough to have been sent two Zoggs Swim Jackets to take away with us. I think Twin Daddy and I have taken the girls swimming 2-3 times since they were born. The first time they were only around 6 months old, but they enjoyed themselves. We didn’t use any swim aids such as armbands. We decided to just hold them in the water. Our twins are now 17 months old and… [Read More]

A busy week!

Following on from my ‘Can a routine be flexible post’ I thought I would write a little update. I mentioned in that post that I would be taking the girls to the Techniquest Toddler Day. Well, we didn’t manage to go, however we did manage to fill our days with some other activities. I work Mondays and Tuesdays so I like to take full advantage of the rest of the week and try to get out and do things and go places that I think the girls will enjoy. On Wednesday we went to soft play (post all about that… [Read More]

Our First Swimming Trip

From the moment we brought our twin girls home from hospital, I have been desperate to take them swimming. Today was that day! What to take with you for baby: * A swimming costume or baby wetsuit * Swim nappies * Baby’s normal nappies * Baby lotion * Hooded Towel for baby * Baby sleep suit & vest * Baby Blanket * Baby’s milk I was unsure about what sort of swim wear to buy for our girls. A wet suit type outfit or normal baby swimming costume. In the end I opted for the wet suit type and I’m… [Read More]
