Zoggs Water Wing Vest Review

Our twin girls are five years old and for as long as I can remember they have always enjoyed swimming.

When they were babies my husband and I didn’t take them swimming very often. Mainly because when my husband worked, I couldn’t take them on my own and we’d usually spend weekends in the park or going for walks.

However, as soon as the girls were old enough for me to take them swimming on my own, it’s something that I’ve been dong regularly.

I think it’s so important for children to learn how to swim. In my opinion it’s an important life skill to have, and it can actually save your life if you should find yourself in an unfortunate situation.

Our girls first really learnt to swim whilst we were on holiday one year in Majorca. You can read my blog post about this here. The girls wore armbands, but their confidence in the water on that holiday just went through the roof, and it was lovely to see.

One minute they’d be by your side, the next they’d have swum over to the other side of the pool!

As much as the girls enjoy swimming, their armbands can be a bit bulky. When Zoggs got in touch and kindly sent me two of their water wings vests to review I was excited to see how they’d fare in comparison to the armbands that the girls usually wear.

They’ve been so used to wearing armbands I was curious to see how the girls would react.

As soon as they saw their new water wing vests there were squeals of excitement! They absolutely loved the bright colours, the shark on the front of the blue one and the mermaid on the front of the pink one.

In their excitement they hurriedly put their water wings vests on over the top of their everyday clothes!

We were also sent a new swimsuit each for the girls, a pair of goggles each and some ‘Learn to Swim Seal Flips’.

According to the Zoggs website, the water wing vests provides fixed buoyancy and encourages a natural swimming position to get little ones used to using their arms and legs to move around in the water.

The vests also features a neoprene body and super soft sleeves with foam floats strategically sewn into the arms and shoulders to provide exceptional buoyancy and ease of movement. The vest has a zip which does up at the back and a tab to hold it in place so little ones won’t be able to remove the vest in the pool. The sleeves help to stop the jacket from riding up around the neck, so little ones can build their swim confidence.

As soon as we arrived at the swimming pool, the girls were in the water! They didn’t hesitate at all!

The water wing vests stayed in place, they didn’t ride up and I must admit they looked super cute in them! Plus, as they’re brightly coloured there was no chance of me losing them in the water!

We stayed in the pool for around an hour and after I asked the girls if they preferred their armbands or the water wing vests.

Both said that they preferred the vests. R said that the armbands she usually wears ‘feel big’ on her arms, whereas the water wing vest didn’t feel like she had it on.

The vests definitely acted liked armbands in that they helped to keep the girls afloat, but without the bulk that armbands can have.

I also think the girls had more freedom to move with the water wing vests on in comparison to armbands, plus the designs are pretty cool too. They’re available to buy on the Zoggs website for just £23. (Price correct at time of publication)

Overall, we’re very impressed with the water wing vests and would definitely recommend them.

On a side note I have to mention the Zoggs goggles we were sent. The goggles the girls had before were quite awkward to tighten, but the Zoggs goggles can be adjusted on the back by simply pulling on either end in the opposite direction. This makes adjusting them so easy!

We also used the seal flips in the water – they’re also great for the bath! The idea is to blow on the surface of the water close to the seal flip so that you flip it over. This helps build children’s confidence in the water.
