5 Holiday Essentials

August 15, 2017

Going on holiday can be an exciting time. Whether you’re planning a girls weekend away, a family holiday or perhaps a mini city break, making sure you pack the essentials can really ensure your trip goes smoothly. Here are my top five holiday essentials.

Camera

One of my biggest essentials when going on holiday is my camera. I used to have a heavy and pretty bulky DLSR, but I’ve seen the light and have invested in a super lightweight, portable and easy to carry camera. Some of the best compact camera Panasonic offer online are perfect for holidays. Panasonic’s line of 4k compact cameras are so easy to use, plus they’re lightweight so you don’t need to worry about having a heavy camera hanging around or your neck or weighing your hardback down.

Journal

This probably comes as no surprise to those who know me, but a journal is an essential for me when on holiday. I like to stick things in like tickets, travel guides, even coins etc. Adding notes alongside them such as what the tickets were for or perhaps a sentence of two about a place of interest. When I get home, I can then stick some photos in as well. I love a good travel journal, perhaps even a scrap book!

Money Belt

Before you roll your eyes, hear me out! You can get some pretty fashionable money belts nowadays! They’re not expensive and they’re great for keeping your money and other belongings safe when abroad. If you’re conscious about wearing one, you can simply wear it under your top instead of over. This is what my husband did on our recent trip to Disneyland Paris.

Comfortable Shoes

If you’re going to be doing a lot of walking, then you should really think about investing in a comfortable pair of shoes. Whether it’s a pair of trainers, some walking boots (depending on the type of holiday you’re going on) or a supportive pair of flats, good shoes can make your holiday that much easier. The last thing you want is to have painful, swollen feet on day one.

Snacks

I always like to take a few snacks on holiday with me. They’re great to use on the plane or in the car, but also in between meals to save you from having to splash out in the supermarket. If you’re feeling creative you could even make your own snacks to bring with  you.

First Aid Kit

Daisy First AidI love my first aid from . It’s small and compact so I simply pop it into my handbag. It has everything in it that you need. I also make sure I have some antibacterial wipes to hand too.

Finally…

In addition to the items listed above, it’s also important to remember to bring your passport, insurance documents, confirmation letters for hotels and flights etc, as well as ID and bank cards!

If you’re travelling with children then this may come in handy. I recently spoke to Joy Richards at Happy Beds about how I keep my kids entertained during a flight. Take a look at it here.
