Room on the Broom Live Show in the New Theatre Cardiff
Today my husband and I took our three year old twins to see Room on the Broom in the New Theatre, Cardiff.
Room on the Broom is a book written by children’s author, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
The show started off with four people camping in the woods. As they got into their sleeping bags and sat upright with their backs to one another they started to drift off to sleep. One of the campers then starts to snore and it soon becomes clear that this is a regular problem the campers have to deal with!
The two women try to stop their friend from snoring when suddenly something in the sky catches their eye!
A witch and her cat are flying happily along on their broomstick when a stormy wind blows the witch’s hat off!
They decide to land and search for her hat.
The witch decides a spell will bring back her hat, but after a few attempts her hat was still nowhere to be seen!
A wonderful puppet dog appears with her hat and expresses his love for howling at the moon! When he sees the witches broom he asks if there is room on the broom for him to go with them because he’d be able to howl at the moon a lot better if he’s closer to it!
The witches cat is reluctant, but agrees to let the dog on the broom.
As the show progresses the witch loses her bow and her wand! In the search for them she bumps into a bird and a frog who all want a ride on the broom, but the broomstick isn’t made for five people! It’s only made for two and sure enough it snaps in half and they all fall to the ground with a thud!
As if snapping the broom in two and falling to the ground wasn’t, bad enough they then encounter a hungry dragon, but who will save the witch?
This magical, musical show held our attention from beginning to end!
The actors and actresses were animated, lively, energetic and they really helped to bring Room on the Broom to life!
The songs were catchy and easy to sing a long to!
Our twins enjoyed the show and they clapped along and sang!
A highly enjoyable show that I’d definitely recommend!

Hi Claire, you should definitely take your girls! Our went to their first show when they were just turned three and they sat through it all and loved it!

Love taking the kids to the theatre and love Julia Donaldson books! I can see it was a great show and why the twins loved it. I will take a look to see if it is on anywhere locally. Thanks for sharing #busydoinglife

Wow this sounds great I love the Julia Donaldson books this is the first one I ever bought for my lad! He's a bit old for this now but my youngest will be ready for it in a few years its sounds brill #busydoinglife

This sounds great! I think there's nothing better than kids theatre when it's done well. This is showing in a theatre in London, I may give it a go!
