A trip to the farm
We recently went on a spontaneous trip to the farm and I thought I would share our experience with you!
Unfortunately, Twin Daddy was working so he couldn’t come with us, but he will definitely be coming next time!
It was a lovely, sunny day and although it wasn’t hot it wasn’t cold either!
Whilst the girls were having their afternoon nap, I hurriedly put together a bag of nappies, wipes, snacks and drinks before quickly searching online for the postcode of the farm so that I could enter it into the sat nav on my phone!
When the girls woke up I asked them if they wanted to go to the farm to see the animals and they said yes! No surprise there as they both love animals! M promptly said shoes and coat and then we were out the door!
We went to Cefn Mably Farm Park , which if you live local I can highly recommend! Although I did get lost on my way there!
How can you get lost when you use sat nav…well the sat nav took me to the right road, but about five minutes away from the farm it told me that I had reached my destination!
It was a country road and I didn’t want to go too far in either direction in case I ended up completely lost and miles away! I called my husband to see if he could offer any wisdom and when that failed I pulled into a golf club and asked a random member of the public who didn’t have a clue either!
After driving up and down the road for around 15 minutes, I saw a car parked under a bridge and decided to stop and ask. Now I’m not sure if they were undercover police or two men undertaking some sort of criminal activity, but all the same they were very helpful and within minutes we were at the farm!
We visited at 2.30pm on a weekday so when we arrived there was no queue. I bought a bag of animal food and we went straight in.
First up was a hutch surround by seats and in the hutch were rabbits and guinea pigs that you could pet. I opted for a rabbit as guinea pigs make me a bit nervous!
One of the farm workers gave R and M a brush each so they took it in turns to brush the rabbit. M also enjoyed feeding the rabbit a carrot!
We then wandered around and looked at the goats and sheep. R wasn’t afraid of any of the animals and even attempted to touch a goats nose! The goat had a little chew on her finger, but it must have been a gentle goat as it didn’t bite her! R thought it was very funny!
M was a little more reserved and enjoyed looking at the animals from a safe distance, although when a pony ran towards us in his enclosure, M did have a little panic! After a cuddle she realised that the pony couldn’t actually get to us because of the fence!
We saw goats, sheep, pigs, chicken and horses.
The girls loved that they could run around without holding my hand! They really enjoyed the freedom!
They sat on some tractors, which M enjoyed more than R and when we went to the play area with some slides and climbing frames, R decided to take a close up look at some of the chickens and promptly started to chase them!
We then had something to eat in the café and then the girls played in the soft play area for a while.
They went down the slide and loved climbing up the stairs!
There was an area with some balls in which the girls also enjoyed. When the time came to leave I had to bribe them to leave the play area with the promise that I would buy them something on the way out!
Hence they are now both the proud owners of a mini cuddly cow!
Cefn Mably is a great little farm. It’s a great place to pass a few hours on a sunny day and I would highly recommend it to anyone who lives in the area!

Looks like a fab farm! Our local one is more play than animals now but looks like the girls had their fair share of animals to see. Looks like a fab day and cute pics Ax
