A Crafty Halloween
This year will be the first time that we mention Halloween to our girls. We haven’t done so in previous years because they’ve been too young to understand and get involved in with Halloween activities.
We’ll make some decorations together to hang up around the house. I have some orange tissue paper I’m sure I can put to good use!
We can make paper chains with spiders drawn on and add some cotton wool to make it look like cobwebs!
We’ll dress up as cats, clowns or pumpkins and make pictures to put on the fridge, walls and doors. I’ve seen a great idea for making a ghost picture using white paint on black paper or card. You just need to paint your little ones hand with the white paint and press it gently down onto the paper to make a hand print.
Turn it upside down so the fingers are at the bottom and then using either googly eyes or some paint add some eyes and voila! A ghost!
There are loads of crafty activities on Pinterest for Halloween. I think we’ll try making some little spiders using pom poms to hang from the ceiling and we’ll definitely have to bob for some apples! I remember doing that when I was a little girl. I always to avoid the apple so I could just play for longer and get soaking wet in the process!

We’ll have to try out hand at pumpkin carving. I’ve never done it so I’m not sure if it’ll be easy or not, but I think I’d start with something basic such a face! We could leave them on our doorstep with a small lit candle inside and then we could have a Halloween themed treasure hunt around the garden with our pumpkin baskets – another craft activity we can do!
When we’ve had lots of fun from all our craft activities, pumpkin carving, apple bobbing and treasure hunting we’ll have some hot chocolate with marshmallows and cuddle up on the sofa before falling asleep and dreaming about what a wonderful first Halloween we’ve all had!
