Thornhill Farm Shop

Can you believe that I’ve lived five minutes away from Thornhill Farm Shop all of my life, yet I’d never been there until recently!

I only heard about it a few weeks ago and when one of my friends told me on the weekend that she was there, I quickly put the kids in the car and joined her!

It was a lovely, sunny day so it seemed perfect to go out and explore the wonders that Thornhill Farm Shop has to offer as oppose to staying cooped up indoors watching Disney DVDs! Although I do love a good Disney DVD!

Thornhill Farm Shop was easy to find down the narrow country lanes as it was well sign posted.

My understanding of Thornhill Farm Shop before I’d been there was that there was a café and a pets paddock where children could go and look at the animals. I’d also heard that there was a small play area too.

I entered via a side gate which took me straight into the children’s play area. The play area has a small ‘digger’ toy that children over the age of six can sit on and then use the  levers to dig up the stones. I did have a go on it with R and M and they loved it!

There’s also a wooden tractor which is split in two. The front part has a steering wheel in for children to let their imaginations run wild and the back part is a slide.

I was also pleased to see that there were three ride-on bikes for children to use as well.

So far, so good! 

I was absolutely amazed at how big the farm area was. I had this image in my head of a tiny paddock with a few guinea pigs and rabbits in, but I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted with this view.

There were chickens, guinea pigs, goats, donkeys, sheep, pigs and alpacas.

R and M really enjoyed looking at the animals and running up and down the grassy path between the animals.

Inside you can find Thornhill Farm Shop and Antlers Café. The shop has a great selection of fresh food from eggs, chocolate to fruit and vegetables.

Antlers Café has some amazing cakes on offer! I treated myself to a slice of Victoria sponge cake and the girls had a cupcake each. I also bought a bottle of orange juice and two cartons of juice for the girls which came in at just over £9.00 so it was very reasonably priced.

The whole area, indoors and out, is clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly too!

Overall, I was very impressed and will definitely be visiting again soon!

I’m a keen runner and in April 2019 I ran the London Marathon for an amazing charity called WellChild. It’s one of my biggest achievements to date. I raised over £2,000 for the charity and learnt so much along the way.

This year we’re passionate about spending time outdoors. We’ll be sharing our travel, days out and camping adventures right here on Twin Mummy and Daddy.

    Glad you managed to leave the Disney DVDs 🙂 love a good farm shop and definitely lots for the little ones. Pictures beautiful x

      Hi Sarah, thanks for your comment. It was struggle, but I managed to prise myself away from the DVDs! It's a lovely farm shop! I've been back again this week! x

    I love it there! Make sure you visit it at christmas this year. They normally turn one of the stables into the nativity x #WhenInWales
