Warren Mill Farm, Cowbridge

This half term I have been keen to take R and M to lots of new places in our local area.

Warren Mill Farm is a place that I vaguely remember going to during my childhood. Before our visit I took a look at their website to see what the farm was like and what it had to offer.

Set in 10 acres of picturesque countryside, Warren Mill Farm offers a fun day out for children and adults of all ages. With a selection of animals including prairie dogs, goats, chickens, ponies and more, children are sure to have a good time!

As well as the farm there’s also a bed and breakfast, self-catering cottages and a fishery.

It took us around 20 minutes to drive to Warren Mill Farm from our home in Cardiff. We left around 10am and arrived around 10.20am.

The website states that they open at 10.30am so we arrived just on time!

The car park was spacious and all of the children loved the chickens, baby chicks and rabbit that were roaming free!

We waited by the entrance for around 10 minutes to pay, but when no-one turned up we decided to go in and pay on the way out.

After a further five minutes we noticed that a man had opened up the area where you pay so we went over and paid. It was very reasonably priced at £3 per adult and £2 per child. Animal feed was also available at 50p a bag so I bought two bags.

The farm is very much open plan which is great as it gives you the freedom to wander wherever you want. I love that some of the animals are wandering around free, although it took a while for R and M to realise that the ducks wouldn’t bite them!

R and M loved the prairie dogs! They popped their heads up from the holes in the ground and came out to say hello for a while before disappearing underground again! They’re obviously used to people being around as R and M were able to get quite close to them.

We fed some of the goats which the girls thought was brilliant. They absolutely loved feeding the baby goats and so did I!

We’d wandered around the first half of the farm and then decided it was time for some lunch.

The picnic benches were situated next to the park and snack bar with a fantastic view of the fishing lake.

The area where the picnic benches are had an assortment of ride on toys such as bikes and scooters. The park had swings, slides, see-saws, ride-on tractors and some more bikes.

R and M loved playing in the park!

The snack bar was reasonably priced. I bought a can of coke for 65p and a cup of tea for £1. They also sell ice lollies too!

After we’d had our food and had a play in the park we wandered around the rest of the farm and came across some ponies and baby ponies!

They were very cute and very friendly!

On the way out we fed the remainder of our animal feed to the goats.

Overall, Warren Mill Farm is a great little farm. We spent three hours there and would definitely go again!
