The trouble with twins

Twins cuddling

Having twins is pretty cool. As a mum it’s actually quite reassuring. I mean knowing that they have an instant best friend for life is something quite unique. When they first started nursery they had one another. They didn’t not know anyone as they had each other. They’ve recently started school and they’re in the same class which offers me great piece of mind. I have a pretty good understanding of the twin bond myself. You see I’m also a twin. My sister and I are pretty close. Even though we don’t live close to one another, we talk on… [Read More]

Things I've learnt whilst on holiday

1. Life is short, make the most of it while you still can. Before you know it you’ll be an OAP and unable to do the things you can do now. Appreciate life more! 2. Being a mum is the best, most important job in the world. They’re only little once so make sure every working moment is spent being the best mum you can be. Give your children your undivided attention. Listen to them, play with them, cuddle them. 3. Love your mum body! You still look good even with your mummy tummy! That tummy gave life to two… [Read More]

Going on holiday with twin toddlers

This month we’ll be going on our second family holiday abroad. The first time we went was two years ago. My mother-in-law paid for us to go, which was very kind of her and she’s paying again this year. We’re going to Menorca, which is where we went two years ago although we’ll be staying at a different hotel this time around. Our twins were 18 months old the first time we took them abroad. I remember packing so much stuff into my hand luggage to keep them entertained and occupied on the plane. I packed magnetic books, playing cards… [Read More]

Some tips in successfully parenting twins

One of the most challenging tasks today is to successfully parent a child. The busy lifestyle and the hectic schedule parents have today; with both parents being employed has made parenting such a tough task.  Needless to say, if parenting a child is so difficult, parenting twin children obviously becomes an enormous and rigorous exercise.  Here are some useful tips for parents to successfully bring-up twins. We’ve been following them regularly, and I must say that we’ve achieved a fine balance between both Twin Mummy and Twin Daddy sharing responsibilities. Why twin mummies should absolutely take time off occasionally

Before I had the twins, I never really had to think about ‘Me Time’. I simply did the various things I loved to do.  All the other things…the things that came under the category of ‘had to do’, were a part of work or making me presentable. Well, now that the twins are here, I definitely seem to be thinking about getting some time to myself a lot lately.  Hey, I LOVE them to bits, but I’m simply going crazy with all the things that don’t get done on a daily basis. I definitely want to be a hands-on mother and if this means that I have to cook meals from… [Read More]

Yes, I’m that twin mum!

Yup, that’s me! Sitting on the floor with my children whilst you sit on the edge watching your children from afar. I can see you, casting your disapproving glances in my direction. My hair’s wet, because rather than spend the time drying and styling it, I sat with my children and read to them, watched TV with them and talked with them. I’m sorry if my wet hair, dirty jeans and tattooed appearance offends you, but your attitude offends me. Whilst you sit and natter drinking your skinny latte and gossiping, I’m spending time playing with my children. Making sure… [Read More]

Interview with myself

What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be so many things when I was younger. I like to think I’m quite creative! I used to love drawing and making things. I remember at one point in my childhood I wanted to be a photographer. I’d spend hours taking pictures of things with my disposable camera! I’d take pictures of plants, the cat, toys, food, pretty much anything! Once I’d decided against being a photographer I moved onto the world of animals and decided that I wanted to be a vet. I loved animals and… [Read More]

A Day in the Life of a Twin Mum

It’s been quite a while since I wrote my last ‘A day in the life of a twin mum’ post. Nine months to be exact. I really enjoy writing these posts because I love looking back and seeing how things have changed. Our twins, R and M, are two and a half now. They’re both chatty, funny and playing together more and more. It’s great to see them chasing each other, tickling each other and talking to each other! They fight and argue over toys too, but most of the time they play nicely together. Not much has changed since… [Read More]
