Going on holiday with twin toddlers
This month we’ll be going on our second family holiday abroad.
The first time we went was two years ago. My mother-in-law paid for us to go, which was very kind of her and she’s paying again this year.
We’re going to Menorca, which is where we went two years ago although we’ll be staying at a different hotel this time around.
Our twins were 18 months old the first time we took them abroad.
I remember packing so much stuff into my hand luggage to keep them entertained and occupied on the plane. I packed magnetic books, playing cards and so many other types of toys and books.
Turns out we didn’t need any of them as they were entertained by just looking around the aeroplane! They were so good on the plane. They didn’t moan, cry or get restless once.
This year the twins will be three so I imagine it’ll be a bit different. I’m going to take my iPad mini with me for the girls to play with on the plane just in case they get bored. They don’t go on it at home as the last time I let them they’d get frustrated at the games they couldn’t play, but I’ll download a few films and some suitable games for them.
I’ll probably bring a book each as well, but that will be it.
Our flight is in the afternoon which is good as it means we won’t have to rush to get out of the house in the morning.
We’ve got a coach straight from the airport to the hotel too which is a bonus.
The holiday is all inclusive. Before my husband and I had children we’d always go on city breaks for three to four nights. We’d always include breakfast, but no other meals as we’d just find somewhere to eat near the hotel.
Now that we have children it’s nice going all inclusive as it means if the kids get hungry we can just go and get food straight away. No waiting or hanging around. Snacks are also included too!
The only problem I find is that I usually come home weighing more due to all the food I’ve eaten!
The hotel we’re staying in is perfect for children. It’s right on the beach, plus it has a kids pool with slides, parks, a kids club, a soft play room and loads of green space for kids to run around!
Last time we went on holiday we just stayed at the pool pretty much all day, every day. The beach was miles away and although the hotel was lovely, there wasn’t much to do.
This time will be different. The girls will be kept entertained as there’s so much to do. I know they’ll love it and have a really good time.
I’ll be bringing my DSLR camera with me too so I’m looking forward to getting some good holiday snaps!

As I read your opening sentences, I was thinking "I hope they're going to take an iPad"! We used our iPad A LOT on holiday! I download episodes of favourite programmes and a few games. We took Harry to Florida when he was 13 months and then Italy when he was just 2. Last year we took Harry and Sophie to New York and Florida and they were 3 and 5 months. I think, as long as you're organised and prepared it doesn't have to be stressful. Going All Inclusive is a great idea. We would definitely consider this when we go away again 🙂 x #ToddlerAndTeens

I really want to take Oliver abroad, we have been looking at Tenerife. I hope the plane journey goes well and I look forward to reading all about your holiday when you get back 🙂

The biggest problem we had was getting the little to sleep in a new place. After two summers of less than ideal times, we're going to skip this year and try again next summer. Good luck!

I'm so excited for you after just coming back! I think as your girls are a bit older they will manage better with being tired and will just be so excited!! With 2 of you as well it's easy to take turns to have a read and sunbathe or just all have fun together. Can't wait to see you posts xx #binkylinky

Wow I bet you can't wait! We went abroad last year and it was lovely but never the same as holidays before. Abroad holidays this year are put on hold as we're planning on moving but so excited for next year! Look forward to seeing the pictures and reading the posts #binkylinky xx

We did exactly the same thing last year when we had our first holiday abroad with our toddler, all inclusive is the way to go! Before he came along my husband and I would do just eat out wherever we fancied but its so different with kids. We liked being able to grab a snack whenever we liked and my son was a big fan of the on tap ice cream! x

This year will be the first time little J has been on a plane for longer than a couple of hours. I think the flight is four so we will definitely be taking the iPad.
