Encouraging Children to be Healthy and Active

As many people know, I enjoy keeping fit and I try my best to eat healthily too. This is something my five year old twins have started to take notice of in recent months. They’ve always know that mummy likes to run and they quite often join me in stretching after my runs. They know the names of the stretches and the muscles that each particular stretch is for! They also know that it’s important to keep fit and eat a varied diet. Now, I have to be honest and admit that when I was a kid, the last thing… [Read More]

Healthy School Snack Ideas

Our twin girls start full time school next week and I’m feeling a little uneasy about it. Previously in nursery, which is only two and a half hours, I haven’t had to think about food as the nursery provides the children with a healthy snack. Usually a crumpet, fruit or a wrap etc.  However, now that our girls are going into full time school, it’s something I need to think about. My husband and I have decided that the girls will have packed lunches. This is mainly for peace of mind, so that we know what they’re eating and how… [Read More]

Walk your way to a healthier 2016!

2015 was a brilliant year for us. R and M started nursery and took part in their first nativity. We went on a lovely family holiday abroad and also in the UK toward the end of the year. Plus we had lots of days out to the beach, farm and even a safari park. 2016 certainly has a lot to live up too! I’m sure it’ll be an even better year than 2015 though and that’s because I’m determined to make it a healthier one. As I sit here typing away at my laptop, I’ve not long returned from my… [Read More]

Diet Chef Review: Week 4

It’s my last week of Diet Chef. In my last update I expressed that I felt a little bored with the options I had chosen for my evening meals. This hasn’t changed, but I think if I were to continue or if I were to pay for Diet Chef myself I would definitely spend a little more time choosing my meals and ensuring that I had enough variety. In total I’ve lost 8lbs in 4 weeks, which when you think about is pretty good. That’s just over half a stone. I haven’t lost any weight since last week, which again is a… [Read More]

On a mission to lose weight

One of my new years resolutions is to loose weight. After doing some research online and looking at various types of diets I have decided that the one I’ll be following is the NHS Live Well 12 week plan. I used the NHS BMI healthy weight calculator to check my BMI and it came back as 25.64. This means I am overweight, although only just. I thought I would add the NHS BMI healthy weight calculator to this post because chances are if you’re reading this post you may be thinking about loosing weight too so you may find it useful.   BMI… [Read More]
