Girls Night Out

September 2, 2015
I wrote a post not long ago which was a little update on the play dates I’ve been having. If you haven’t read that post you can find it here.
In short the play dates have been going well. I’m so glad that we ditched play group in favour of them and I think R and M are pretty pleased about that too.
Both girls have become so much more confident in playing with other children and also in leaving my side to play with them. This is a massive change as usually the girls stick to my side like glue whenever we go anywhere! I went to the park recently and met my friend there with her little girl and boy. M is very friendly with her daughter and the two of them wandered off and played together the whole time we were there.
R was a bit more reserved, but did warm up to playing with M and the other girl after a while. It was lovely to see them playing so well together and I think it’s great preparation for when they start nursery in September.
Anyway, that’s enough about the kids!
I’ve been a mum for just over three years now and in that time have struggled to find other mummy friends. I don’t why really. Maybe it’s me?
However, I have over the past few months made friends with two lovely ladies and we’ve all been on play dates at each other houses which has been really nice.

A few weeks ago we even had a meal out together in the evening. I can’t remember the last time I actually did anything like that.
I put the girls to bed first with their daddy and then one of my friends picked me up before we headed to our other friends house. We then made our way to a lovely bar/restaurant a very short drive away for some food.
I’d never been in that restaurant before but it was really nice. I ordered a chicken burger with chips.
The company was good and the conversation flowed easily. The only thing that bothered me was that there was a singer and she was loud to the point where I struggled to hear what my friends were saying!
I had a great night and hope to do it again sometime!

Making mummy friends is so important and tricky! I'm lucky that I'm still friends with the ladies I met at NCT class, it was so helpful for making friends. Play dates are great too, I'm really pleased you've had some child free fun with them too, vital for our sanity! x

Hello, thanks for your comment. It is so important isn't it! Having mummy friends is great for play dates for the kids, but also for support for mummy too! x

I really worried about making mummy friends before I had Emma and luckily I met 3 during my antenatal classes and we're really close now. I find it hard making friends and playgroups and playgrounds though, I'm too busy running after my toddler now 😉 Glad you made some friends and did something for you as well! x #bestandworst

Hi, thanks for your comment. It took me ages to take mummy friends, well just over three years so I'm determined not to let these two go! I find it hard to make friends too and it's really hard when other mums have already formed their own little groups x

Ah glad to hear you made some Mummy mates. I think we all need them to moan and generally have someone other than hubby who gets it!! Hope you get many more nights out and lots of fun. Glad the girls are getting more and more confident too as time goes on! It makes you feel better about nursery I guess! Thanks for sharing with #bestandworst and see you soon xx

Hi Sarah, thanks for your comment. We do indeed all need to have a moan to our friends now and again! I doubt I'll have anymore nights out soon as both my friends have just a baby in the last week, but that means I get lots of cuddles! x

I definitely need to make some mummy friends, what with having no family local either. Good for you, sounds like its definitely working for you 🙂 #bestandworst x

Hi, thanks for your comment. In the end I just braved it, approached a mum I'd spoken to on a few occasions and asked her over for a playdate and it's gone well ever since then! I hope you make some mummy friends soon x

It's great having mummy friends. I was so worried about being on my own during maternity leave but I made a great group of friends. I'm glad you had a good night!
