Finding the right pushchair

The thought of buying a pushchair can be a daunting task for expectant parents. It seems that nowadays you can buy anything in your local supermarket including pushchairs! The different types of pushchair ranges available are vast and yet making this purchase is one of the challenges every mum and dad faces.

Twin Daddy and I started our search online. From tandems to side-by-sides, even ones that sit on top of each other, we were overwhelmed by the choice. I wanted a pushchair that would last a good few years. One that was compact, yet had a big basket underneath and would fold easily. I also wanted to test a few out before we bought one. However, it turns out that not many shops stock a lot of twin pushchairs. The first one we tried was a tandem pushchair. It looked nice and I imagine getting it through doors wouldn’t be too much of a problem, however I thought as our girls grew older and heavier would it become more awkward to push. It also felt a little long.

The next pushchair we tested out was one in which the seats were ‘stacked’ on top of each other. If I’m honest I don’t really know why anyone would buy one of these. They appear to be totally impractical and expensive when you consider it won’t last very long. I can imagine they would be wonderful for when your babies are newborns because they would be facing you and it would be easy to simply attach a car seat to, but as your baby grows you would need to purchase another pushchair.

The third pushchair we looked at was a side-by-side one. It was narrow, had adjustable seat heights, had a big basket underneath and folded in half. It was a clear winner for us! I don’t know why I wanted a big basket underneath because I have never actually used it that much! Twin Daddy and I ended up buying our pushchair online.
