This time last year I had just bought my early bird ticket to Britmums Live.
I bought it quite hastily and did so not knowing if I actually would be going!
It was a spur of the moment decision, but one that I’m very glad I made!
Britmums Live is an annual blogging conference in Central London.
Hundreds of male and female bloggers from all over the country gather together to meet other bloggers, to network, meet brands, make friends and learn lots of new skills.
It is with many thanks to my two wonderful sponsors, Optibac Probiotics
, that I was able to attend Britmums Live.
OptiBac Probiotics are dedicated to developing an expert range of the highest quality.
Their range consists of 9 different probiotic supplements which they sell on to health food stores and independent pharmacies nationwide.
Snoob was created by Angelique and Becky, two mums, each with four children, all of whom were breastfed.
They felt there was a need for a breastfeeding cover which provided discretion and versatility whilst breastfeeding in public, without sacrificing style.
I’ve met three five bloggers in real life.
Laura from Side Street Style
, who I met briefly during a small event at Home Sense and I very briefly saw Laura at Britmums Live whilst passing each other on the stairs!
Debbie from Johnson Babies
and again I very fleetingly saw her at the same Home Sense event mentioned above.
I was then lucky enough to take part in the Team Honk Blogger Relay earlier this year. This event brought Debbie and her twins together with me and my twins as Debbie’s twins handed over the relay baton to our twins.
It was also the Team Honk Blogger Relay that brought me and Jo from Ojo’s World
together in our onesies!
The other two bloggers I know in person are Georgina who blogs at Makeup Pixi3
and at Mummy Pixie
, and also Heledd who blogs at Yummy Blogger
. I happen to work with them both which is how I know them!
So aside from these fabulous five, all of the other bloggers that I have chatted to over various forms of social media are my online friends.
After chatting online we learnt that we were all staying in the same hotel so we decided to meet up when we all arrived in London.
But first I needed to get to London!
I live in Cardiff so I booked my train nice and early.
Britmums Live was due to start at 2pm and I wanted to make sure that I had plenty of time beforehand to find the hotel, leave my bags and have something to eat.
I arrived at Cardiff Central Train Station around 07.45am.
I then boarded the 08.25am train to London.
I arrived in Paddington around 10.30am.
I’ve never travelled anywhere on my own before, so I made sure before I left that I had a good idea of where I was going or so I thought!
When I arrived at Paddington I thought it would be a simple tube trip to Moorgate then onto Old Street.
I asked a lady who worked in the underground station and she advised me to get the tube to King’s Cross, St Pancreas and then change over to the Northen Line which would take me to Old Street.
To my surprise I found my way and didn’t get lost!
Before I knew it I was at Old Street tube station where I had arranged to meet Helen and Lucy.
The thing is though, I was desperate for a wee and seeing as I hadn’t managed to locate the toilets in the underground I decided to find the hotel. I called Helen and Lucy to let them know.
After relieving myself, it was quite nice to sit down for a while!
However, I wasn’t sitting down for long because before I knew it Helen and Lucy rang to say they were at Old Street Station.
I walked over to meet them and then they dropped their bags off at the hotel.
We’d heard about a group of bloggers who were meeting up at a Starbucks just up the road from The Brewery, (the venue where Britmums Live was being held) and we decided to head there to grab something to eat.
I think we were all a little disappointed that not many of the other bloggers spoke to us.
I don’t know if it was because they’d all been there a while already and had a chance to chat to each other, but we made the most of the time and talked amongst overselves for the majority.
1.45pm arrived and we all made our way to The Brewary for registration at 2pm.
Everyone’s badges were laid on tables alphabetically according to their surname so it only took around three minutes to register!
We were handed an agenda and we then made our way into the hub to explore some of the brands stalls.
I am so glad that we did this on our first day and not the second!
The amount of things I came away with on the first day was overwhelming!
In addition to this I’d also collected a number of business cards and leaflets.
Thankfully I was able to pack everything into my suitcase on the Friday night which meant that during the second day I didn’t have to carry bags full of freebies around!
After chatting to a lot of the brands I made my way into the main room to listen to the keynote speaker.
Following this I attended two sessions.
The first of which was ‘How I did it: Success stories from high-profile bloggers’
I really enjoyed this session and listening to what Jane, Emily, Ana and Annie had to say.
I learnt a lot, but I’ll share that with you in another post soon!
Next up was ‘The power blogging can bring to your life’.
I stayed for a while and then decided to pop into the room next door to catch the end of Lucy’s ‘Design tips to make your blog look gorgeous’ session.
With no time to spare it was the BIBs party and then the BIBs awards presented by fellow blogger, Katy Hill.
Yup that’s the one! The ex Blue Peter presenter.
After a very long, enjoyable and tiring first day Helen, Lucy and I made our way back to the hotel for some food.
After enjoying a delicious meal with great company it was time to retire to my room for a well deserved bath!
Did you go to Britmums Live? Did you enjoy it?
