Life through my eyes
I often wonder what it would be like to view the world with near perfect vision.
My eyesight is quite poor and I wear glasses to drive, to watch TV and read signs in the distance or presentations at work.
Both my parents wore glasses and so does my twin sister.
I hate wearing glasses.
I hate the way they feel on my face.
They’re also expensive.
However, I love the way they allow me to see the world.
Without glasses my children’s faces would be a blur.
I wouldn’t be able to drive, which means I wouldn’t be able to take my children to the farm or to the science museum.
I have never worn contact lenses and I’m never likely to.
The thought of putting something into my eye doesn’t sit well with me.
When I saw this video created by Optical Express about laser eye surgery it got me feeling quite optimistic.
I’ve heard of laser eye survey and LASIK. I tell myself that one day I will have laser eye surgery.
I took a survey online a little while ago that required me to enter my prescription details and it came back telling me that I was eligible for laser eye surgery.
This video shows a group of men who are travelling around the world.
One of the men has had laser eye surgery and he talks about the impact it has had on his life.
He talks about seeing small details that he wouldn’t have noticed before such as the ridges on leaves.
I can particularly relate to him when he’s having an eye test and is asked to read the lines out letters out.
I struggle to read them myself without glasses on.
After his surgery, the man explains that he thought the results of the surgery would fade, but he smiles and says that they haven’t.
His consultant says he has better than 20/20 vision.
Amazing.
To see the world through eyes where nothing is a blur, everything is crisp and without having to squint to try and read something would be wonderful.
It may not sound like much, but it would meant the world to me.

That's a lovely way to look at glasses but even better that there's a way of getting that without them. My husband wants laser eye surgery and knows how much it would improve his life if he did. I say go for it! 🙂
