Barefoot Books Review and Competition

December 21, 2013

Barefoot Books celebrate art and stories that opens the hearts and minds of children from all walks of life, focusing on themes that encourage independence of spirit, enthusiasm for learning and respect for the worlds diversity.

When I was asked if I’d like to review some children’s books, I chose two books aimed specifically at our twins age. They’ll be two early next year and they both love animals. For this reason I chose the two following books:

Both books are beautifully illustrated with bright pictures that contain a lot more detail than you may notice at first glance.

This picture from Who’s in the Farmyard is bright, fun and colourful. In addition to this our twins enjoyed counting with me how many eggs and chicks they could find.

In this picture from Bear takes a trip we counted how many bears we could see as well as how many circles and squares.

Who’s in the farmyard is a peek-a-boo book. Each page has a circular hole to peek through to see which animals are greeting the day around the farm.

Bear takes a trip follows bear and his best friend as they take a trip to the mountains. Children can help them tell the time as they enjoy their exciting day out.
