Today is World Book Day! For those unfamiliar with this event it’s basically a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and of course of reading!
This year will be the 18th year that there has been a World Book Day. Today children of all ages will come together to appreciate reading. The main aim of today is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading.
One of my big aims this year is to read more to our twins. I don’t read them a bedtime story at night which is something that other parents can be very judgemental about. I didn’t plan not to read them a bedtime story on purpose, we just fell into a bedtime routine that worked well for us and it just doesn’t involve reading.
That being said, I’m going to start reading a minimum of one book a day to R and M. They have a huge amount of books. From picture books to story books and noisy books, you name it they’ve got it!
In celebration of World Book Day R and M were sent a Rapunzel costume each. They love the film Tangled and they love the story of Rapunzel. As well downloading a copy of this story so that I can read it to the girls, they will be dressing up as Rapunzel to help them truly get into character!
These costumes are available from ASDA and I think that they’re superb value for money at just £12.50 each. In addition to the dress there’s also a headband included with a long plait.
This costume fits well and will last a good while I imagine as there’s plenty of room for growth. The dress consists of a cross detailed front with pendant featuring a picture of Rapunzel.
How will you be celebrating world book day?
For the purpose of this post we were sent two Rapunzel dresses. All opinions are 100% my own.
