What’s in the girls party bags

I wrote a post a little while ago entitled, Why I hate party bags and what you should put in them. I received quite a few comments on that post and across social media. Some people agreed with me, whilst many others didn’t!

It seems that the humble party bag can certainly stir up some emotions! One thing I hadn’t counted on was some of the parents from the girls nursery reading that post. I didn’t even know that they knew about my blog, so I apologise if I offended you! It wasn’t intended!

I’m not sure where the idea of party bags started, but it was quite interesting to read Scandi Mummy’s comment. 


I kind of just assumed that everyone the world over gave party bags out at children’s birthday parties, but that’s clearly not the case. I always remember receiving party bags when I was a child if I’d been to someone’s party.

Anyway, since writing that post I’ve had time to plan what goes into our twins party bags for their upcoming fourth birthday party. Whilst I wanted to stay away from sweets, I understood from the feedback I received that stickers and bubbles are pretty much a must! 

So here’s what will be in the girls party bags:

Colour in super hero finger puppet
Bubbles
Stickers
Mini connect four game
Cake
Thank you card

I really liked the idea of putting some seeds in and a book, but I wasn’t able to find these cheap enough. I managed to make 30 party bags for a total cost £30.00 which works out at £1 per child which I think is pretty good!

    I wouldn't worry about offending any of us! The party bag stresses me out with what to put in them, and I'm sure Josh will love yours! Great ideas you can help me!! ha ha xxx

    For M's 3rd birthday i went on the Book People website and bought a pack of 10 books (you can buy all sorts, I got the Quentin Blake stories, but there are Julia Donaldson and Shirly Hughes to name a few). They were £10 for 10 books and as she was having 9 friends round it was perfect with a book left over for M too. At a cost of £1 per child and a special book to keep was a much nicer option for me. 😊 I'm sure the party bags will go down a storm, who doesn't like stickers and bubbles!!! 😃 Xx

    Those party bags sound perfect, pretty much what I always do! Although I did get a bit creative with my son's last party which was a Minecraft party and we actually made some themed bits and pieces, decorated notebooks and so on. As long as there's cake I think most children are happy!

    Fab ideas, I always think, each to their own really but I do like party bags/favours… I've used umbrellas, books, seeds, bubbles, mini dinsaurs… all very inexpensive from poundworld or similar… I also made keyrings with the child's name on and they went down really well xxx
