We've found a new home!

If you follow me on Twitter then you may have heard that not so long ago my husband and I were handed notice on our home. Our landlord has decided to sell up which left us in the position of having to try and find somewhere new to live. 

We’ve always wanted to buy our own home and have tried hard to save enough money for a deposit, but with such short notice (two months) we knew our savings would take a hit and our chances of buying our own place would be stalled.

When you’re renting there are a lot of costs to be taken into consideration such as bonds, deposits, removal vans etc. We knew that would seriously dent our savings. 

Owning our own home would provide us with so much security and reassurance. 

Did you know that UK homeowners could have saved over £3.5b* in 2014 by ditching traditional high street estate agents and opting to sell their homes over the internet instead? That’s according to recent research by My Online Estate Agent.

They go on to say that the staggering saving is in part due to the rise in estate agents’ fees, which have increased by £553m* in the last two years because of rising property prices. 

That’s the thing you see. With property prices rising it feels like we’re constantly on an uphill struggle. The more we save, the more house prices seem to rise so it’s never ending!

Although on the positive side if using an online estate agent can help to save sellers money, maybe they’ll be more open to negotiating on a better price with buyers like us!

For now though we’ve been lucky enough to have found a home that suits our needs. It is rented which is a shame as we’d love to buy, but right now that’s just not possible for us. 

Our new home is a three bed dorma-bungalow. It has a spacious kitchen with plenty of storage space, work space and a breakfast bar which is perfect for our girls to sit at and have their breakfast whilst looking into the garden!

There’s a conservatory through the kitchen door which leads out into the garden. That’s one of the best things – the garden.

It’s enclosed! It’s not overlooked and it’s just the right size! It’s even got a free trampoline in it!

Our current garden is on the road, open and very, very overlooked. 

Downstairs there is a bathroom, with a bath! Our current home just has a walk-in shower, so it’ll be nice to be able to have a bath! 

There’s also the living room, two reception rooms and a room which used to be a bedroom, but now has stairs in which leads up to the two bedrooms and en-suite upstairs. 

The room with the stairs in can be used as a play room! Great, as it means we can have a toy free living room!

The two bedrooms upstairs are spacious, plus one has an en-suite with a shower cubicle in. 

We’re hoping to move in sometime next week and we just can’t wait!
