Trutex School Uniform Review
Buying a school uniform is an essential part of school life that every parent will have to go through. Our twins started nursery last September and although I was able to purchase their polo shirts and cardigans through the school, the hassle that I experienced when it came to buying trousers and dresses that fitted was a nightmare.
At three years old our girls are on the small side. They’re often described as slender which is great, but also means that trousers and skirts don’t stay up and trousers are usually too long. I searched everywhere for trousers that would fit and visited numerous shops. I asked people for recommendations, but in the end I bought the smallest pair of trousers I could find and sewed in the waist and the lengths of the trousers so that they’d fit.
When Trutex contacted me to review their school uniform range I was hopeful!
I chose a cardigan each in cobalt blue, size 3/4 years, which is the same colour as the school uniform the girls currently wear.
I also chose a pair of junior girls twin pocket trousers for R and a junior stitch down pleat skirt for M, both in size 4 years.
I also received a pair of blue jogging bottoms in size 3/4 years for R and red ones for M as they have a movement session once a week which they need to wear joggers for.
I was really impressed with the quality of the trousers and skirt. They felt durable, plus the trousers felt really soft. The thing that impressed me the most though was the adjustable waist on both the trousers and the skirt.
To the back of skirt and trousers is an elasticated area with a button. The elastic has button holes allowing you to bring in the waist without the need to sew it. M is very small so I was very pleased that the skirt fit her when on the smallest setting. The same for R and her trousers, although the length is a bit long so I will need to bring up a bit.
Another thing that I love about the trousers is that there’s no need for them to have buttons or a zip because the elasticated waist helps to keep them up. R’s current school trousers have a zip and two clasps on which can be tricky for her to up. With the Trutex trousers she doesn’t need to worry about doing any zips, clasps or buttons up which is great!
The cardigans were a perfect colour match to their current school uniform and they fit really well.
They’re soft to the touch and look great. They have buttons up the front which are easy for children to do up.
The jogging bottoms are available in either blue or red, which is quite handy for us considering R’s favourite colour is blue and M’s is red! Featuring an elasticated waist and internal draw cord they fit both R and M perfectly. They have a pocket either side and again are excellent quality. They fit the girls waists well, although do look a little baggy, but the length is perfect.
This year Trutex is celebrating its 150 year anniversary. They’ve supplied school uniforms for children over six generations, which is an achievement that proves their formula of design, comfort and value for money is welcomed by schools, parents and pupils.
Overall, we’re very impress with the Trutex school uniforms and would definitely consider buying them again when needed.

This looks like a great, quality school uniform. I have to get most from the school uniform shop but then have to go to sainsburys, next or m&s for the rest. Will look at trutex this year though x

The girls looked SO cute!!! I struggle with Josh too as hes teeny still in 18/24 jeans and 2/3 tops!!! Josh smiles every time I look at your blog! <3
