The strength of a parent

May 4, 2016

The original title of this post, was going to be the strength of a mother. Mainly because I’m a mum and I wanted to get my view, as a mum across. However, it dawned on me that both mums and dads have to have an amazing amount of strength during the toughest times of parenthood.

It’s not something you really think about when planning for a baby, or during pregnancy and the early days I guess, but when the unexpected happens, mums and dads somehow manage to dig deep and muster up all of this strength that they probably didn’t even know they had.
For some, that strength that will be tested during the early days, whereas for others it may not be until a few years in.
Our twins were born premature and went through quite a bit in their first few days of life so we’ve definitely had our strength tested from very early on.

Now at four years old, we’ve certainly been through a lot.

Hospital admissions, falls and tantrums, it all takes an enormous amount of strength  for mum and dad. Whether it’s putting a brave face on or simply standing up for something you feel strongly about, mums and dads really are superheroes.

You seem to both be doing a fantastic job at being a mom and dad. Kids really do see their parents as being their hero x

You should be very proud of yourselves. I am not a parent yet but I know it is one of the most challenging and rewarding things we can do as a human so when you have been tested like you have and overcome everything then yes, you should be proud. I love those photos too. So cute!
