Night time potty training

Potty training children can be a pretty stressful time for a lot of parents. When our girls were approaching potty training age I did what most parents do and turned to the internet in search of advice! I typed in search terms such as ‘how old to start potty training’, ‘how do I know when my child is ready to potty train?’ among others! I remember reading that you shouldn’t be in a rush to start potty training. If you start too early, potty training can end up taking longer than if you’d just waited until your child was ready. … [Read More]

Why twin mummies should absolutely take time off occasionally

Before I had the twins, I never really had to think about ‘Me Time’. I simply did the various things I loved to do.  All the other things…the things that came under the category of ‘had to do’, were a part of work or making me presentable. Well, now that the twins are here, I definitely seem to be thinking about getting some time to myself a lot lately.  Hey, I LOVE them to bits, but I’m simply going crazy with all the things that don’t get done on a daily basis. I definitely want to be a hands-on mother and if this means that I have to cook meals from… [Read More]

Money Saving Tips for First Time Parents

Congratulations! You’re about to become parents! You’re probably more than prepared for your little ones arrival in terms of caring for them. You’ve probably read numerous books and online articles, been given lots of advice from other parents and now all that’s left to do is await your babies arrival. Everyone knows that having children can be expensive. From the cost of nappies, clothes and dummies to the cost of pushchairs, toys and days out. Here are some of my money saving tips for first time parents. 1. Bulk buy nappies. Online companies often have good deals on when you… [Read More]

2015 Blogging Changes

Don’t worry this isn’t one of those posts where I make a bunch of New Years resolutions! If you want to read about those you can visit my new blog here!  How long?! I’ve been blogging for almost three years now. I started back in 2012 when I would post rather sporadically and inconsistently. As time passed by and my blog began to grow I started to write more and more posts until the point that I posted daily.  Sometimes I would post multiple times a day.  How many?! In 2012 I posted a total of 86 times. In 2013… [Read More]

Mums – How do we find some time for ourselves?

twins on seesaw

It’s a common problem I imagine both mums and dads of small children face. ‘Me’ time. As I look back at the last few days of my life I can recall that the most times I actually sat down in any one of those given days was four times. I sat down four times in one day! It may sound like a lot, but listen to the reasons why I sat down four times and you’ll soon realise that four times in one day is not a lot when you have kids! Once to give my girls their breakfast. Once… [Read More]

Rise and Shine! It’s time to take on the Early Bird Challenge!

I am not a morning person. I never have been and I doubt I ever will be. My husband on the other hand is definitely a morning person. Once he’s awake, he’s awake! It doesn’t matter what time it is. Before our twins were born he would regularly wake at 6am and just sit watching TV or play one of his games.  I’d be quite happy staying in bed until 10am, sometimes 11am. When I was in my teens you’d be lucky to see me before midday.  Since having children you’d think all that would have changed and that I’d… [Read More]

Night time potty training

It official! Potty training in our house is officially over and done with for now! Both of our girls are fully potty trained in the day. I wasn’t in a rush to potty train them and I would have quite happily waited until they were three before I even thought about potty training, but our girls started showing signs that they were ready around two years and a few months. I’ve heard that boys can take longer than girls to potty train so if you’re reading this and worrying about when the right time to start is – stop worrying! Do you know any… [Read More]

Return to the school gates: The good, the bad and the ugly!

It’s official – half term is well and truly over! Image courtesy of digitalart/freedigitalphotos.net Schools are back and with it some normality can (hopefully) be regained! But, what does the return to school mean for you and your family? For most it means forking out for new school uniforms, pencils, pens and that awful sticky stuff to cover school books with! I can never get it on without a few bubbles or wrinkled lines! Just me? Evenings are spent creating packed lunches that look like works of art. Posh ham sandwiches in the shape of a dinosaur anyone? Dicing cheese into… [Read More]

What makes a happy mum?

As mothers, it’s easy for us to come across as having it together all the time, and most of the time we do.  Correction!  We have to! Without some sort of order to the unpredictable chaos it would be some challenge just to make it to the end of the day! But you say our job is easy?  Well, it’s so much more than a job…it’s a 24 hour thing, with no breaks, holidays or timeouts. We can’t just call in sick and stay at home. Some may argue that being a mother makes you happier than you ever thought you could… [Read More]

The perfect work/life balance

Is there such a thing as the perfect work/life balance? Before I had children I had a full time job working in a call centre.  I would work Monday to Friday and also the occasional weekend and late shift. Weekends were spent with my husband either going out somewhere nice for the day or usually lazing on the sofa on a Sunday watching TV. Since becoming a mum I reduced my hours from 38 hours a week to 16. This means I work two days a week and spend the rest of the week with my girls.  Not long after… [Read More]
