This post is an entry for the Real Mums of All-Bran Linky Challenge, sponsored by Kelloggs.
We’ve all heard the saying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but how many of us are actually eating a healthy breakfast?
Most mornings I skip breakfast because by the time the kids have had breakfast, showered and got dressed I’ve simply forgotten to eat.
When Kelloggs challenged us with the #RealMumsAllBran 5-Day Challenge I was keen to hear more and take part.
The challenge was to try their All Bran cereal for five consecutive days.
The challenge is all about getting a good feeling in your tummy as well as about your tummy. It’s about embracing our tummies and the way they look.
I thought the best way for me to show you how we got on with our challenge was to write a song. Unfortunately, I haven’t had time to record a fun video of us singing along, but I hope you still enjoy it!
I’m a real mum
Not a fake mum
I may have a big bum
And a round tum
But I’m a real mum
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I have food in my hair
Crayon on the walls and stickers on the doors
But I’m not bloated
Not bloated anymore!
I ate some cereal
It was wholegrain
Kelloggs made it
All Bran, full of fibre
Didn’t taste like cardboard
It was truly delicious
But hubby keeps eating the red berry crunch
None left for meeee
He says it’s his favourite
And now he loves his tummy!
Good and healthy
None left for me
The twins keep eating chocolate wheats
Chocolate for breakfast?
Oh wait! It has digestive benefits
Makes you feel happy inside
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
No more tummy niggles
For this yummy mummy
I love the golden crunch
Eat bowl after bowl
Yummy, yummy
All bran, all bran
I’m a real mum, not a fake mum
Life isn’t perfect
We don’t sit and braid our hair in front of a fire
We draw on the walls and wee in the garden!
We have tantrums in the shop
And in the street
But I’m a real mum
We’re eating healthily
A good breakfast
To start the day
Yummy, yummy
All bran, all bran
Ta da!
Back to the cereal…and I suffer from bloating and it’s all down to my diet. Foods such as bread and fizzy drinks make me feel even more bloated.
When I was a teenager I could eat anything I wanted and I never put weight on.
At least that’s what I thought and what people would say to me!
However, when I moved out of my parents’ house and got an office job sitting at a desk all day, I soon discovered that I couldn’t eat anything I wanted without putting weight on.
You see when I was younger my I was a house keeper in a hotel. Eight hour shifts cleaning rooms meant being on my feet all day, non-stop. In hindsight it was a great way to stay slim and burn calories!
Since my teenage years, my belly has become rounder. Partly down to the types of food I eat and the lack of exercise and partly down to carrying two little babies in my belly for 34 weeks and 2 days!
I don’t dislike my belly. I just wish that it was a little less ‘round’.
I’m not overweight, but I would like to be less bloated.
In a bid to lose weight, be healthier and say goodbye to the bloating, I’m trying to eat more fibre.
Did you know 90 to 95 per cent of the ‘happy hormones’ serotonin is made in the gut? A study of 1,000 women found 52 per cent experience digestive complaints, such as bloating or gas, at least once a week. Eating fibre every day is a simple remedy for happy tums!
We were sent on box of each flavour cereal to try: Golden Crunch, Red Berry Crunch and the new flavour Chocolate Wheat.
My favourite flavour is Golden Crunch. A light multi-grain cluster which has been oven-baked for a deliciously crunch taste!
My husband’s favourite flavour is the Red Berry Crunch. As well as eating it for breakfast he eats it as a snack when our little girlies are in bed! It has lots of freeze died fruit in which give it a lovely sweet taste if you prefer your breakfast to have a bit of a zing to it!
Last, but not least I was accosted by two little girls when trying out the Chocolate Wheat flavour cereal!
I’m pretty sure they have a chocolate-radar! If I hide in the kitchen to try and eat a chocolate bar in peace, I’m never on my own for very long!
The Chocolate Wheat All Bran Cereal is definitely our girls favourite cereal. It’s chocolately, crunchy and yummy!
I was concerned that these cereals would be a bit ‘cardboardy’, but to my delight they’re as far from cardboardy as can be!
After eating all-bran cereals for five consecutive days I’m feeling great!
I feel less bloated, more confident and more importantly more comfortable.
My clothes don’t hug my tummy as much as they used to meaning I walk a little bit taller with a spring in my step and I most definitely feel very happy inside!
