Since my last personal training session I feel like I’m making good progress. I’m definitely keeping up the healthy eating better than the previous week which did see me having a takeaway. This week though there have been no takeaways in site! Yay! Go me!
My food so far has consisted of:
- Salmon, brown rice, spinach
- Soup (Vegetable/Minestrone etc)
- Tuna steak, cous, veg
- Chicken strips, veg and spinach
- Omlette
- 2 x slices wholemeal bread, ham, salad

In between meals if I get peckish I’ve been opting for fruit, carrots and hummus or a protein shake. It’s funny how differently changing my eating habits has made me feel.
I feel as though I have more energy, but I’ve also noticed an improvement in my skin too. It looks brighter!
Last week I had my second personal training session. It was very different from my first session which was just cardio.
This week was pretty tough, but still enjoyable. We worked a lot on my upper body. Activities included:
- TRX – (suspension/strength training) Basically using your own body as a weight! This type exercise allows you to work against your own body weight. First up I held onto two straps that were attached to a wall and used my own body weight to do some ‘push ups’. We then alternated this and did some ‘press up’s. These were pretty tough! I definitely found the push ups easier! Using the same straps I then did some squats.
- Battle Ropes – These ropes are super heavy! You can do lots of different types of exercises with them. The one I did was to pick the ropes up, bend my knees, raise the ropes and slam them to the floor.
- Slam ball – I really enjoyed this one! If you’re in a bad mood, this is definitely the exercise for you! The slam ball was weighted, I think it was 5kg. Whilst kneeling on the floor I had to raise the ball above my head and then slam it down onto the floor, close to my body
- Kettle bell – I found this pretty tough! Trying to make sure I was standing in the right position and swinging the bell correctly was a lot to think about. I’m not very co-ordinated!
- We then did some hamstring curls using the swissball.
- Next up was a really tough one! A stepper like no other I’ve come across before. You had to keep stepping pretty quickly otherwise you’d sink to the floor. This machine gives no rest!
- I also did some cardio on the cross trainer and treadmill
I really got sweating today, but it was all really enjoyable! My personal trainer gave my some advice about my eating habits and also helped with me with some running tips.
I mentioned that when I go running, (I hadn’t been for a while), I run for 1k, then walk/jog the rest of the way and usually do 3k. Whilst I was on the treadmill, my PT showed me what pace to go at. Last Friday night I replicated this pace and actually ran 2.16k non stop! It felt pretty good too! It wasn’t a struggle!
I have to say that I’m really enjoying these sessions. They’re helping me to get my motivation back and I’m starting to feel a bit more confident.

Sounds like you’ve been introduced to the stair master. It’s a killer! Sounds like you’re doing really well. It’s amazing how much better you can feel just from eating well. #bestandworst

Well done, it can be so hard to get back into exercise after not doing it for a while – it’s been 2 years since I worked out and I do miss it but just need to find the motivation to get back on it. Your dinner looks lovely, thankfully we’ve always had a pretty healthy outlook foodwise and once you get into the swing of it, it’s not too hard to maintain! Keep up the good work #bestandworst

Well done on all your hard work – it’s not easy getting back into the swing of things when it comes to exercising and your dinner looks deliciously healthy!

Glad to hear you’re still enjoying it and it’s great that you’ve noticed a difference already. Battle ropes are definitely a gym nemesis of mine – my arms are already dead just thinking about them!

I need to lose a little bit of weight and start exercising more. But I find it really boring, but the ropes and slam ball sound like fun! #ThatFridayLinky

You have such great will power! I’m trying (I use that word rather loosely!) to shift the post baby weight but I like rubbishy foods far too much! And your lunch looks delicious 🙂 x

It’s great how that shift in lifestyle can make you feel so good, although initially hard to break the bad habits! Food looks really tasty. I’m now feeling hungry for salmon…

Well done! I have been trying eating healthy since my baby’s born (she is 8 months now). I LOVE cakes and it was really difficult to say NO to these treats. So the first week was quite tough for me, but afterwards it is really amazing how you get used to your new habits and enjoy eating healthy food. Now I don’t really have these cravings + I have also started doing sports. And then it feels so good to get my before baby weight back 🙂
So keep going 🙂

You go mama! I love a quick 5 minute workout before I jump in the shower every morning and I can be seen using my exercise bike about twice a week too (whilst watching my fave film of course!)
Exercise is great and makes you feel rejuvenated!
Go you <3 #thatfridaylinky

Wow! You did a lot! I don’t think I would be brave enough to do so. But having a personal trainer must be really motivating! Maybe I should try? The thing is that I can get bored quickly, especially when it’s about sports… Good luck with the rest of it! #ThatFridayLinky

Well done! I love reading your progress! I wish that i had that kind of motivation for exercise, then again i run around after my nearly 1 & 3 years old (it’s kind of a workout?) I wish I could get a PT but my funds are not that great with being a student 🙁 you’re doing great though, keep up the good work! #thatfridaylinky
