Our day at the spa

September 3, 2014
It seems like so long away now, but my sister, who blogs at Two Under Two, and I went to Bannatynes Spa for a relaxing spa day a few months ago.
We’ve been to a spa together once before after seeing an offer on Groupon and when I saw another offer for Bannatynes Spa we jumped at the chance!
This was our first time at Bannatynes.
I live just around the corner, but have never really thought about joining or going to the gym. I think having two kids now has something to do with this!
Anyway the offer was for a spa day for two people and even better we could have two spa treatments each!
Amazing!
I originally was going to have a massage and manicure, but my sister decided she wanted a massage and facial so I opted for a facial too and I’m so glad I did!
Bannatynes in Llanishen, Cardiff is smaller than I thought it would be, but that doesn’t detract from what it has to offer.

Before we arrived, we were sent some forms via email that we had to fill in and bring with us on the day. A simple medical questionnaire.
Upon entering the building you have reception desk to your left and a café to your right situated at the front of the building.
We were greeted by a lovely lady, who explained to us that we could use any of the facilities and that our treatments had been booked for 11am and would be an hour in total. (25 minutes per treatment)
We were given a bag which contained a towel, dressing gown and slippers for £3. This is non-refundable, but we were able to keep the bags. Great because this is now the bag my husband uses every time we take our girls swimming!
We were then shown to the changing rooms and advised to return to the relaxation room five minutes before our treatments.
The changing room facilities were clean, spacious and had everything you needed from hair dryers and mirrors to shower cubicles, toilets and one of those little hand spinning things to dry your swimming costumes!
We decided to make use of the swimming pool first!
Sadly there was a class going on in the pool when we arrived so we couldn’t use the pool to start with, but it didn’t bother us too much as we just used the Jacuzzi instead!
Our first treatment was a 25 minute Swedish back, neck and shoulder massage.
I’ve never had a massage before – well, aside from my husband’s – so I did feel a bit uncomfortable at the thought of a stranger massaging me so I couldn’t completely relax!
The massage was really good though, and although at times did hurt a bit, overall I enjoyed it.
My favourite treatment though was the energising facial. I’d never had a facial before so I didn’t know what to expect.
It was relaxing and left my skin feeling amazing. I would definitely have a facial again!
After our treatments we had a spot of lunch in the café. Sadly there was nowhere for us to sit as the café was very busy. One member of staff suggested we could eat in the relaxation room, which would have been a bit awkward on a bean bag with no table, but thankfully a table quickly became available.
The food was delicious!
After letting our food digest we tried out the sauna and steam room, before heading into the swimming pool for a swim and another go in the Jacuzzi.
I thoroughly enjoyed our day at the spa and can’t wait to have another!
Have you ever had a spa day?

This sounds amazing! I've never been to a spa before but the more I hear about how good they are, the more I want to go! Glad you had a lovely time xx
