LeapFrog LeapBand Review

LeapFrog is a brand that I’ve come to love over the last few years. Since my children were born I’ve trusted LeapFrog products and have learnt that their products are truly designed with children in mind. From their very early days using the LeapFrog Musical Table to more recently watching our girls playing with LeapFrogs Number Loving Oven, I think it’s fair to say that we’re big fans!

Like lots of children our twin girls enjoy copying mummy and daddy. Whether it’s saying what we say, doing what we do or wanting what we have, children learn by watching and re-enacting what they see others do.

I have an activity tracker watch that I wear everyday. Both girls enjoy pressing the button on it and they often say that they wish they had a watch like mine. Well, now they can!

The LeapFrog LeapBand is an activity band designed for children aged 4 – 7 years old. Available for just £29.99 it comes in four colours, green, pink, blue and orange.

The LeapBand lets children have their very own digital pet that lives on their wrist! The more children move their bodies, the happier their pet is!

As a mum of twin girls who moan when they walk half way down the road that their legs are aching, I’m hoping the LeapBand will encourage them to do more walking and be more active!

One of the main things that I love about LeapBand is the way it looks. It’s appealing to children and kind of reminds me of Tamagotchis! I loved those when I was a kid!

The LeapBand encourages active play and healthy habits with 50 fun challenges. It’s really easy to use too! The first thing children will need to do is choose which pet will be their team captain. We have a LeapTV games console so our girls are already aware of the different pets available. You can choose from 1 of 8 pets including a penguin, dragon, robot and so many more different pets!

A simple heart icon displayed in the top left hand corner of the the screen lets children know that their pet is happy.

The screen itself is a really good size. It’s not too big and it’s not too small. It’s just the right size and the picture is superb!

Under the screen you’ll find three buttons. A star is in the middle and then you have direction buttons either side. Pressing the star button lets you look after your pet. Your pet can either be:

• Hungry
• Thirsty
• Restless
• Playful
• Energetic
• Messy
• Sleepy

All around the edge of the screen is the energy bar. As children move around during the day, their energy bar moves around too. When the bar is full it changes colour. Once you’ve filled the bar up once, it changes colour and continues to change colour every time the bar is full.
