Number Loving Oven from Leapfrog

Our twin girls started nursery not long ago. It’s been a big change for them as they’ve always been looked after home.

In a bid to support their learning at home, I’ve been on a mission to find some educational toys. We were recently sent the Number Loving Oven by Leapfrog and I’m pleased to say that’s it’s a great toy for a good number of reasons.

For starters it helps to teach skills such as counting and sharing.

The number loving oven is a cute little character to look at. With it’s pretty purple eyes and numerous features children are sure to love it.

Plus it’s also a great preschool prep for little chefs as it includes 16 fun ingredients! Inside the box you can find:

• Interactive oven
• 4 pizza slices
• 3 pieces of bread
• 2 cupcakes
• 1 fried egg
• 1 skillet
• 1 spatula
• 1 baking tray
• 2 plates

The different parts of the pizza has a variety of toppings on, but they’re also numbered. To separate them you simply pull them apart. They click back together again with ease so it’s perfect for little hands.

The bread can also be separated into three pieces.

I really like the fact that both the pizza and the bread can be broken up. It helps to encourage counting skills, but also problem solving as children will need to figure out how it goes back together again.

The cute cupcakes are brightly coloured which makes them appealing.

I love the addition of the fried egg in the skillet as you can pop it on the hob on top of the interactive oven and hear a sizzling sound!

There’s also a red timer so children can ‘time’ their food cooking. As you turn the timer it makes a clicking sound which means children can count the clicks.

The baking tray fits perfectly into the interactive oven which makes for great role-playing fun.

Above the door to the oven are number buttons 1-5. When you move the dial the oven signs. When you press the chef’s hat you’ll hear some learning songs or you can listen and learn along to over 30 fun phrases.

This toy really is great as it can be played with in so many ways. Budding chefs can cook up a treat and children can get a taste of some maths by cutting the food into 2, 3 or 4 equal pieces.

Everything also fits inside the oven which means it’s portable so you can bring it anywhere with you!

The Number Loving Oven is a fantastic toy. It offers a fun and interactive way to explore early number concepts including recognising numbers, counting along and sharing.

As children play they may discover interesting mathematical relationships such as parts that make up a whole and dividing equally.

The number loving oven is colourful, durable and a new firm favourite of ours!
