How to create a cozy country-style room
Distressed dressing tables, log fires, chunky knit blankets and the smell of bread baking! All of the things that come to mind when I think of a country-style house.
Country style homes have become quite popular recently and for good reason too. The rustic charm and homeliness of walking into a room full of fresh flowers, traditional prints and plump cushions is certainly appealing, but just how exactly can you create a cozy country-style room for yourself?
Well, let’s start from the bottom and work our way up!
Flooring
A Solid Oak Flooring, particularly those with a distressed look will help to give a country feel.
Not only does solid oak flooring look good, it’s also durable and low maintenance. The added distressed look will look more natural too.
Simplicity is the key when it comes to achieving that country vibe. White is a good colour to use as a base and light shades such as pastels will compliment it well.
To help add a bit of life to the room throw in some floral cushions.
Ambience
Think mood lighting and candles!
Mood lighting doesn’t have to be boring though. Consider a rustic hanging light fixture such as a pendant or maybe even a chandelier.
Wallpaper vs Paint
A feature wall using wallpaper with a delicate print can really set the tone of a room.
Use paint to highlight decorative walls, alcoves and wall art.
Furniture
Think white slip-covered sofas, oak coffee tables and distressed sideboards.
When it comes to country style furniture it’s either all out simple or all out glam!
Choose which one you prefer and go from there!
