How long does it take you to clean your house?
How long does it take you to clean your house?
This is the question I was asked today and the honest answer depends on what type of ‘clean’ I’m doing. My friend who works at Connect Cleaners estimated that it would take roughly 2 hours with a pair of professional cleaners on the job. Here is how I would break it down.
I live in a dorma-bungalow so I have six rooms downstairs and three upstairs. Some rooms are easier to clean than others. For example, my kitchen is pretty easy to clean as the surfaces are pretty empty. Most of our appliances are in cupboards so all that’s needed is a good wipe down of all the surfaces.
The floor is tiled so I’ll sweep it, mop it and then when dry give it a good hoover. It probably takes me around 30 minutes to clean the kitchen. If I was to empty all of the cupboards and clean them, you could probably add another 45 minutes onto that.
Our girls play room takes a bit longer to clean because they have a lot of toys in there. Small toys, big toys and the floor has a rug down on it. Under the rug we have wooden laminate flooring that attracts quite a bit of dust. It’d probably take me around an hour to clean this room.
Next up would be the bathroom and living room. Pretty easy rooms to clean so it’d probably take me an hour to clean them both.
The last room downstairs is our conservatory. This room is very simple as it just contains a dining table and chairs so I’d have it clean within 30 minutes.
On that basis it would take me just under four hours to clean the downstairs area of our home.
Upstairs we have two bedrooms and an en-suite.
Our girls bedroom and my husband and I’s bedroom are very easy to clean. The girls room just has their beds and a TV unit in. My bedroom just has a bed and two bedside tables in. The en-suite is small so I could probably clean them in an hour.
That brings the total time of cleaning our entire home to around five hours.
Now, if you were to ask me how long I thought it would take to clean something like the London Eye, I’d have a guess it would be somewhere around 150 hours.
You have all those pods to clean, the spokes etc, I think it’d take a very long time and I wouldn’t want to be the one to clean it!
Karcher have a fun quiz on their website where you can test your worldly knowledge with the Monuments of the World Quiz. Why not give it a go?
You’ll get 100 points for a correct answer and 50 points if you get close! I didn’t do too good! I only scored 450 points so I definitely need to brush up on my worldly knowledge! Give it a go and see if you can beat my score!
