I have been wondering lately what the right age is to change from a cot to a bed. I know our girls aren’t ready for a bed yet, but I have read so many conflicting things about this. Some people say that by the age of two a child should be in a bed and yet I have read that other people still have their 3 year olds in a cot.
I have had a look at online furniture store Clever Clicker and can see that they have fun childrens beds from Thuka. I was wondering if with these types of beds do you use a bed guard and if so, at what age do you stop using a bed guard?
At the moment, R is a pretty good sleeper. After having her milk, I put her in her cot asleep and she only wakes at most 3 times in the night just for me to put her dummy back in. R does spent the whole night in her cot. M, however will stay in her cot from anything between 30 minutes to a couple of hours and then she is in the bed with us for the whole night. I don’t mind her being in the bed with us, but I do wonder if we’ll ever manage to get her to sleep through in her own cot. I don’t really know why M doesn’t stay in her cot. She seems to wake up continuously when she is in her cot, but if she is in the bed with us she only stirs briefly and can be easily settled with a pat or a cuddle. Maybe when both girls have all their teeth that may help them sleep better.
So what age did you change from a cot to a bed?
