Can you Guess? Game Review by Orchard Toys

October 8, 2015

Children love to play games.

Hide and Seek is a firm favourite in our house, even though the way in which our girls play it is pretty funny. The hiding place is always the same!

R and M will hide behind the curtains. I’m not allowed to start counting until they’re hidden and then when I find them I have to take one of their places whilst they count. It’s pretty funny watching them pretend to look in cupboards and under things to find us, when they really know where we are!
Kids imaginations are wonderful aren’t they! Another favourite game of ours is snap. I must admit I can a bit competitive during this one! I think it’s safe to say that we’re a game loving family!
It’s suitable for children aged four and over, but our three and a half year old twin girls understand the concept of the game and really enjoy it!
It’s an action packed performance game suitable for all of the family.
Inside the box you’ll find:
  • 18 sound cards
  • 18 action cards
  • 10 performance cards
  • 1 spinner
  • 4 x 2 piece scoreboards
  • 24 star tokens
  • 1 instruction leaflet

The game is perfect for three to four players and helps to develop personal and social skills such as self-confidence and performance skills. It also helps to encourage recognition and interpretation of pictures and symbols, plus it’s a great way to teach children to work together in a group.
How to play

Each player is given a scoreboard to place in front of themselves.
You’ll then need to separate the sound, action and performance cards and place them face down in three piles (by type).
Place the spinner and star tokens in the centre so that they’re within easy reach of each player.
The aim of the game is to guess the most correct sounds, actions and performances.
Decide who is going to go first and then that person will need to spin the spinner and take the top card from the corresponding category pile.
If the card picked up is an action card, the player will need to act out what is shown on the card without making any noise, or showing the card to the other players. So if I picked up the card with the ballerina on, I could stand up and dance like a ballerina.
Overview

This game is so much fun to play. We’ve had lots of laughs playing it together and it’s a great way to get the whole family together.
As well as being fun, it helps to develop important skills too, plus all of the pieces are made from durable cardboard.
A great game for all of the family that we’d highly recommend!

I miss board games – I feel like playing some now! Great review, going to recommend it to my best friend for her and her kid to play (and hopefully I can too)

Sounds like a great game to play with primary age children. Children these days don't play board games like we did when I was young. #binkylinky

I love this game! It is so much fun. I have different versions of it but the idea is exactly the same. My daughter loves to play it but I still need to help her a little bit. 🙂 x
