A Bloggers Child
As a blogger my children benefit from certain aspects of my blog.
Days out, reviews and various experiences are all a part of what being a blogger is all about. Something I often struggle with though is where to draw the line when it comes to products I’ve been gifted in return for a review.
In particular toys. We love getting toys to review. Trying out the newest and latest products is lots of fun and it means we learn all about them and get to share them here with you, our readers.
The thing is though I often wonder if I should be putting these toys away for Christmas for them or should I just give them to them when I receive them and be done with it?
I did read a little while ago that some bloggers will give their children the toy they’ve been sent for review, but they’ll tell their child that they’re just testing it for Santa and that if they like it they can have it back for Christmas.
I totally admire bloggers who do this, but its’ not something I could do. I’m a bit of a soft touch when it comes to my girls and I don’t think I’d have the heart or courage to give them a toy and then take it away again, even they were to get it back at Christmas. I also kind of think that takes something away from the magic of Christmas. I mean they’d know already what some of the toys they’d be getting were.
For me the magic of Christmas growing up was all about not knowing what you were going to get. Of course I’d write a list to Santa, but I’d never actually know what things from my list I’d get until I woke up Christmas morning and unwrapped them.
It’s a tough one. I don’t want my children to be spoilt, but then I think that I work hard on my blog so why shouldn’t they enjoy the results of all that hard work?
What do you think? What would you do?
