Before You Sleep: Book Review
Every night I read our twin girls a bed time story. They love listening to the story each book has, and they really enjoy looking at the pictures, asking questions and using their imaginations to talk about what they can see on the page.
Books are so important to us and our girls already have a pretty impressive collection! I don’t think I can ever say no to receiving a children’s book to review!
We were sent the beautiful, entrancing children’s picture book, ‘Before You Sleep’, to review and we just love it!
Written by Benji Bennett, ‘Before You Sleep’ is just one of the many books that Benji has written about his son, Adam, who sadly passed away at just four years old.
In August 2007, Benji bennett’s life was changed forever when his adored son died suddenly of an undiagnosed brain tumour on his 37th birthday. At his son’s funeral, Benji made a pledge to encourage parents to enjoy more time with their children and, inspired by his deep love for Adam, Benji began to write.
Before You Sleep is a colourful, beautifully illustrated book. Benji wanted to create a story that helped parents share with their child how much they’re loved before they drift off to sleep. It became such a bedtime favourite in Ireland that is has outsold the Gruffalo and won an Irish Book Award!
Over eleven evocative scenes, each one starting with, ‘I love you much more than…’ each page is filled with direct expressions of love from the reader to the child, helping to nurture love and togetherness.
Our favourite page is where Benji and Adam are dressed like bees! The girls thought this was pretty funny!
Overall, this is a heart-warming book that I would whole-heartily recommend. We love it!

Awwww, this sounds and looks really lovely – I think my niece would absolutely love it, however if she likes it too much she may make me read it twice before bed :p

I've read to both of my daughters since they were tiny, but my eldest is just getting to the point where she is taking interest in what I'm saying! I love to read book reviews, I think I'm going to need a bigger bookshelf!
