A Crafternoon with Jacdo

Before things were explained to us we had a bit of fun with the materials in front of us!

Christmas Wreath Craft


It was soon made clear that at the first table we sat at we would be making Christmas wreaths. The shower scrunchies were to be dipped into the paint trays and then used to paint the paper plates. A brilliant idea and a great alternative to paintbrushes! Our girls really enjoyed this activity and so did their daddy and I!

After using the shower scrunchies to apply the green paint, we used cotton wool, paintbrushes and sponges to apply some festive red splodges!

Sock Snowman


This was our favourite activity and it was surprisingly easy to make! All you need is a sock, some uncooked rice, two hairbands, some orange string and some felt pens plus a pair of scissors.

The first step was to cut the sock in two and turn it inside out. Then we had to tie the cut end up with a hair band and then turn it back the right way before filling it up with the rice.

Once full, we used the other hair band to tie up the open end to prevent the rice from falling out. We then gave our snowmen a scarf each with some orange string which we tied tightly around the middle of the rice filled sock to create a head and body. We then used the other half of the cut sock to make a cute snowman hat, before giving our snowmen a face and some buttons with the felt pens!

Hand Puppets


It’s no surprise that I enjoy crafting and that extends to sewing. This activity was lots of fun, but also very easy for young children to do themselves. The plastic sewing needle was a good size for children to hold and the ready-cut holes in the felt made it easy for our girls to thread the wool through the holes to join up the two halves of the puppet together.

Once the two red halves were joined together, it was just a case of sticking on the various face stickers and eyes.

As you can see from the pictures above our girls love their Santa puppets!

Jacdo Products

Before leaving we took a closer first hand look at what Jacdo has to offer. The subscription boxes are a good size and as mentioned above contain everything you need to do the activities inside. I really like the idea of having a box full of craft goodies delivered to our door.

The activities also follow the national curriculum (in Wales) and everything is dyslexia friendly. These boxes are the perfect learning aids to boost confidence and skill.

I also really liked the idea of the world map box. Our twins have started asking questions about the world we live in so this would be great for them!

I thought that these cute tins were a great idea. The ones pictured are penguins, but there were also reindeers too and it’s a kit to make a cute Christmas decoration.

Overall, we had a great time and learnt a lot about Jacdo. Our girls were pretty happy with their goody bags which contained some felt pens and pencils, along with one of the tins above, so I’ll be sure to share some pictures when we’ve made them!
