Your 30s & 40s: The Most Important Years For Health?

When you are young, your body can handle pretty much anything nature – or you – can throw at it. But once you turn 30 and move into your 40s, it’s a vital time for your long-term health. No more all-night parties for you!

But seriously, a lot of conditions can start showing up when you reach this age, and as your body starts to change, slow down, and start revealing more of your genetic history, it’s vital that you sit up and take notice.

With this in mind, here are a few ideas for you to keep in shape and keep the broad range of health concerns that can sneak up on you before you know it. Let’s get started right away.


Your body

According to researchers, the body you have when you are 40-45 is the one you are likely to keep until old age. Your metabolism will slow, and it will be harder for you to shift those extra pounds. So, it’s vital that you continue your exercise regime, stay fit, and sort out your diet sooner rather than later – or you could find it tough to get back in shape at a later stage.


It shouldn’t be too hard to believe that when you are 30 or 40, you are under a lot of stress. You are likely to be under pressure from work, as well as having to meet your responsibilities to your family. There are bills to pay, foods to buy, and you are also going to have to think about starting to look after your parents, too. Again, it’s important to ensure you are taking care of yourself at this age, as you could be looking at developing blood pressure problems, depression, and even troubling heart conditions. There are people in their 40s that are receiving SSDI for arthritis, for example, and many people are diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes at the age of 45. Osteoporosis is another big issue when you hit your 40s, and you might start experiencing a lot more broken bones when you have accidents. Finally, don’t forget about our old enemy skin cancer – all those years sunning yourself without sunscreen could end up punishing you in the worst possible way.


Make sure you are taking greater care of your health in your 30s and 40s – you need it. Regular check-ups, physical exams, and screening programs are there to help, so try to fit them in as often as your doctor suggests.
