You’re four years old today!

February 28, 2016

Dear R and M,

Today is your fourth birthday party. I still can’t quite believe that you’re actually four years old. It feels like only yesterday mummy and daddy were driving up to the hospital to meet you both.

Things didn’t quite go to plan. The consultant decided that it was best to bring you both into the world a little earlier than planned, but my goodness me you were both so strong, determined and you both fought with every single bit of strength that you had.

The last four years have been pretty amazing. Tough and stressful at times as you both know how to fight with each other and wind mummy and daddy up, but then again mummy and daddy were probably the same when we were little!

Over the past year you’ve both learnt how to ride your bikes, how to cross the wobbly chain bridge at the park without falling and how to climb up the climbing wall all by yourself!

You’ve also started nursery and made lots of friends. You really do like nursery! Mummy and daddy miss you whilst there, but I always make sure I’m first in the queue to pick you up, even if that does mean standing in the rain and cold for a good 20 minutes! I think the other parents think I’m a bit bonkers!

We’ve recently moved house and you’ve been so good with the move. You love our new home and seem to have settled in so quickly.

We’ve done so much in these short four years. We’ve had lots of trips to the theatre, live shows, farms and we’ve enjoyed days out across the country and lovely holidays too.

can’t wait for the summer so we can start sowing our seeds for our vegetables and fruit. You both love helping me to do this, but I think you enjoy eating the food we grow more!

I love that even though you’re twins, you both have your own personalities, which are so very different!

M, you’re definitely the girliest girl I know! You wear dresses every day. In fact you spent most of winter parading around in summer dresses and nothing else! You must have been cold, but refused to wear tights or a cardigan!

You love to dance like a ballerina and pretend to fly like a fairy. You sing and screech as loud as you can! You love to run around with no clothes on and you love an audience with anything you do!

Most of all though you love R and it’s clear to see how much see loves you too.

R, you’re independent and you know your own mind. You know what you like and you definitely know what you don’t like. Having said that you love cuddle and you love following mummy and daddy around the house! You enjoy football, breakdancing and playing outdoors.

You love wearing your blue shorts and jeans with a t-shirt. Your favourite thing to do is to play games with M, mummy and daddy. I think your favourite types of games are card games. Your level of concentration is epic! You’ll happily sit and complete a task until it’s finished to the very end, unlike M, who gets bored quickly!

You both had your first proper birthday party yesterday. We booked a hall, invited some of your nursery class, as well as, some of your friends from outside of school and you all had such an amazing time. We had a bouncy castle, music and soft play. I think it’s fair to say you both had a brilliant time and you’ve both been so spoilt as you have so many presents to open, although I’m not sure where we’re going to keep them all!

Mummy and daddy love you both so much and we’re both so proud of you.
Happy fourth birthday our beautiful girls!

My son is four next Sunday. Goes so fast doesn't it. I was induced due to having obstetric cholestatis but I was already three days overdue so was more than ready to meet him. Those cakes looks really yummy. My kids would both love that Peppa Pig one.
