Wooden Fairy Cake Stand & Cakes and Wooden Fairy Biscuit Review

November 18, 2014
Wooden toys have been around since before I was even born. They’re durable, easy to clean and great fun for children to play with.
We were recently sent a Fairy Wooden Cake Stand & Cakes and Fairy Wooden Biscuits to review from Lucy Locket.

Last year we bought our girls a play kitchen and they still play with it pretty much every day. They love pretending to cook and wash up the dishes!
This year we’ve bought them a wooden play shop and these fairy cakes and biscuits will go so well with it! We can sit the cake stand on the counter next to the till and the biscuits alongside it on a plate!

I think I’m more excited about Christmas than my kids!
The fairy wooden cake stand arrived well packaged in a box. It does require some assembly, but this took less than a minute and was easy to do with the allen key provided.

The cake stand has a large wooden bottom plate and a smaller one at the top. They’re flower shaped and finished with pretty, glittery hearts.

I love the pastel colours of the stand. It’s easy on the eye and looks cute and funky. The stand comes with a selection of nine small cakes, slices and muffins.
Each one is different and they have some glitter detail on. It’s a great way to introduce children to the concept of choice, sharing and tastes.

The top of the cake stand has a blue wooden ball shaped top which means it’s easy for children to carry the cake stand around. R and M both enjoyed placing the various cakes onto the stand and then sharing them between themselves . They even put one on a plate for mummy and one for daddy!

The stand is well made and durable so I can see this toy lasting a long time. This toy is suitable for children over the age of 3 and is available for £24.00.

As mentioned above we were also sent a Fairy Wooden Biscuit set. These also arrived nicely packaged with a viewing window in the box so you can see the biscuits inside.

The biscuits are round and square and each one has a different design on. They’re all two layers (one piece of wood on top of another), which help to give the biscuits some depth and make them a bit more interesting that if they were just one piece of wood.
Like the cakes, the biscuits also have glitter on them. I know some parents may be concerned about them having glitter on, but it hasn’t come off and we’ve been playing with these pretty non-stop since they arrived!
One thing I would have liked to have seen it a wooden tray or box for the biscuits to be stored in, but you do also get 3 cardboard sheets which have a pretty design on, so you could use these as ‘plates’ for the biscuits to go on. Other than that though we’re really happy with them!
The wooden biscuits are a set of nine and are available for £12.00. Again these are suitable from age 3 and up.
Overall, we’re very happy with both the cake stand & cakes and the biscuits. They’re both great quality and will provide lots of imaginative fun for our twins. They’re great together and will both make the perfect addition to a toy kitchen or shop!
For the purpose of this review we were sent the above items for free. All opinions are 100% my own.
