Wildlife Jack DVD and Book Review
With regular trips to the farm and pet shop it’s clear to see how much our girls adore animals. At three years of age they’re intrigued and eager to learn all about different animals, where they live and what they eat.
I’ll often find myself watching an animal TV show with our girls and the questions they ask range from the interesting to the bizarre!
That’s where Wildlife Jack steps in! He’s the young explorer who talks to real animals!
DVD
The Wildlife Jack DVD is available from Amazon for just £7.49 and consists of five episodes with a total run time of approximately 36 minutes.
In the DVD Jack is seen reading his book of adventures with his explorer grandpa (voiced by Chris Packham) when his room transforms around and his adventure begins.
We join Jack as he tries to learn to fly with birds, join a deer heard, follow a fox hunt, swim with seals and keep up with an otter! As well as being lots of fun to watch, the DVD is very informative too.
The animations are great and my girls have asked to watch this DVD a number of times. It’s a good introduction to nature and of course to the animals that live in our world too.
Book
The Wildlife Jack book, entitled ‘I want to fly’ is about Jack who is an ordinary boy who lives in the city. That’s until his Grandad opens his magical books and Jack’s world transforms into an exciting wildlife adventure.
I like that the illustrations in this book are made up of real-life images of nature and of course animals, but then Jack has been included in some of the scenes too. The images that are 100% illustrations are bright, colourful and really help to bring the story to life.
Jack’s adventure starts up a tree where he’s eager to learn how to fly after seeing a blue tit fly for the first time. Jack helps the birds too by showing them how to flap their wings with his arms.
Jack’s grandad makes Jack his very own wings, but he’s still not able to fly himself.
This book was easy to read, it flows well and there are just a few sentences on each page so it’s not too long either.
Overall we love Wildlife Jack!
