This is the first post of a new series on my blog featuring some very talented new bloggers. First up is Rebecca who blogs at Babylove Beckha.
Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging as I thought it would keep me entertained whilst on maternity and for when I became a stay at home mum.
I was right!
You really don’t realise how much time and effort creating a readable, well liked blog really takes!
I also thought it would help me make new friends, meet new people and learn new things.
I’ve never been very creative. I was more of a science and maths person at school. I have always loved reading, but not writing.
I thought it would help me develop my writing skills and without sounding big headed – I do think my writing is improving all the time. I’m finding it easier to structure what I want to say rather than just rambling on endlessly about things!
What do you enjoy about blogging?
I enjoy it when other people enjoy my blog. I love it when I get comments and feedback.
I honestly thought people would never read it, or be interested in what I have to say, but people are reading it, much to my surprise!
As a blogger it also encouragess you to read other peoples blogs. I have already made lots of new friends through blogging.
I have always micro-blogged via the medium of twitter. It’s what got me through my infertility, losses and IVF treatment if I am honest. Bloggers look after bloggers. There are also perks like being sent things to review and new exciting products that no one else has tried yet!
What have you learnt since you started blogging?
I’ve learnt that blogging is a two way street. You have to interact with other bloggers and readers. I’ts not about writing stuff and letting it just sit there.
Do you have any tips for new bloggers?
1. Write about things you are passionate about. It really comes through in your posts if you’re writing something just for the sake of writing!
2. When I started my blog I set myself a target to blog at least twice a week. It was something I thought was achievable. So make a target and stick to it.
3. I always have a list of “things to blog about” on my phone. If I ever have a moment and think oh that would make a good post I note it down there and then because if I don’t it gets forgotten. If I’m stuck for something to write about I go to my list and choose one of my ideas I have noted down and write about that.
