Where The Wild Things Are: Book Review
Where the wild things are is a popular children’s book. I’d heard of it before, but hadn’t read it and didn’t really know much about it. When we were sent it as part of a bedtime story project recently I was curious to find out what it was about.
My twin girls, R and m weren’t so keen. They were put off by the front cover and kept calling it the scary book. They said they didn’t want to read the scary book. Oh dear, not a good start!
After convincing them it wasn’t a scary book, they finally let me pick it up and read it to them!
This book is all about a little boy called Max. One night he puts on his wolf suit and makes mischief of one kind and another, so his mother calls him ‘Wild Thing’ and sends him to bed without his supper.
That night a forest begins to grow in Max’s room and an ocean rushes by with a boat to take Max to the place where the wild things are. Whilst on his journey, Max crowns himself king and manages to tame the wild things.
When the monsters are sleeping and he’s on his own, Max starts to feel lonely and decides it’s time to sail home where someone loves him best of all!
The illustrations in this book are very detailed and lovely, but they just didn’t appeal to our girls at all.
They really didn’t like this book which is a shame as it’s the first book that they’ve ever taken a dislike too.

The illustrations look great but I can see that it may not appeal to girls as much as boys perhaps.
