Top Toddler Books
As a keen reader myself, although I don’t do too much of it nowadays due to lack of time, I’m keen to start reading more to our twins.
I recently asked on Twitter how often people read to their children and it made me feel slightly bad that I don’t read to our twins on a regular basis.
The majority of people replied to say that they read to their children (of all ages from babies to pre-schoolers) daily.
Our girls have lots and lots of books, but we don’t tend to read them much. In a bid to read to them more I have put together a list of my top toddler books.
These are books that we own, that our girls enjoy when I do read them to them.
Not last night, but the night before by Colin McNaughton
This charming book is easy to read and has really great illustrations in.
It’s one of the books that our girls will sit down with me and let me read it from start to finish.
It’s all about a little boy who gets lots and lots people knocking on his door. They knock him down, trample over him and squash him!
All in a bid to give him a lovely surprise!
It’s also a great action book as our girls love knocking on the doors!
It features lots of nursery rhyme characters from Little Miss Muffet to the three blind mice and many more.
A great little book for toddlers!
Bear takes a trip
This book is full of really colourful, detailed illustrations.
It’s about a bear who goes on a trip with his friends using different methods of transport and they also tell the time as they go.
The thing I love most about this book is how detailed some of the pictures are. You can look at a picture for ages and find buses, shapes, animals and all sorts!
First 100 Farm Words
This book was given to us as a present and the girls enjoy it for many reasons.
Although it’s not a story book, it’s a great picture book for learning about animals, farm vehicles and farm food.
When we look at this book, I ask our girls what animals they can see and what noises each animal makes.
I also ask them to point out the animals and food items as a little fun quiz! They’ve actually learnt quite a lot from this book!

My eldest is just getting back into reading again. I used to read to him regularly, the other 2 need to be completely in the mood! It has to be on their terms or it won't happen #autism xx
