Cool Maker Sew N’ Style Machine Review

It’s no secret that I enjoy sewing, so it comes as no surprise that my five year old twin girls are following in my footsteps with their love of sewing too. When I get my sewing machine out, our girls are keen for me to show them what I’m doing. They also love pressing the foot pedal down and helping to feed fabric through the needle. They’re both very enthusiastic about sewing so when I was offered the chance to review the Cool Maker Sew N’ Style Machine I jumped at the chance. Aimed at children aged six+, children can magically… [Read More]

The Great British Sewing Bee: Sewing Studio Review

I absolutely love sewing. You can view my creations on my craft page here. From blanket to toys, to dresses and pillows, there’s something rather therapeutic about sewing. Our twin girls have also taken an interest in sewing. Quite often if I’m making something they’ll ask to help cut the fabric or press the foot pedal. They’ve been desperate to make something of their own for a while now, but I’d never let them use my sewing machine as it’s simply too big for them and not safe for their little fingers. We were recently sent this Sewing Studio sewing… [Read More]

My Sewing Projects: Poppet Dolls aka Dummy Fairies

Our twins are four years old. Actually, four and a half years old. They’ve been going to nursery for two and a half hours a day for just under a year, and they’re starting school in the next few days.   I think it’s fair to say that it’s time we ditched the dummies. In fairness the girls rarely have one during the day, although M does have a habit of asking me many times during the day for one in an attempt to wear me down, which on occasion I have given into!    Come 5pm though and that’s… [Read More]

Sewing Project: Guinea Pig Toys

I’ve been making rather a lot of toys recently for our twin girls, but I wanted to make my neice and nephew something special too. They have pet guinea pigs so I thought I’d make them a guinea pig toy each! When M caught sight of these she fell in love with the pink one! That very night I quickly made up another one just for her! The following morning R decided that she too wanted one, so I had to make another!

My Sewing Project: My Little Pony Unicorn Toy!

M has become rather obsessed with unicorns lately! I think it has something to do with her watching Barbie and the Secret Door as there are unicorns in it! She’s also into My Little Pony and is always asking for it on the TV! Thanks Netflix! With this in mind I decided to make M a unicorn toy using a Dolls and Daydreams pattern. Inspired by My Little Pony, I found some super cute fabric online that was perfect for the unicorns body! I’ve made a number of toys using the Dolls and Daydreams patterns. They’re all been super easy… [Read More]

Sewing Project: Rainbow Baby Dolls

My latest sewing project was something I’d wanted to try for a while.  I purchased the rainbow babies pattern from Dolls and Daydreams. It’s a jointed doll with wool hair. I thought the biggest aspect I was facing was the hair, but in all honesty every part of this doll was super easy to make, making it one of my favourite patterns ever! Of course I had to make our girls one each, but I thought I’d treat myself to one as well! Here are some pictures of the creative process!  My next project is a unicorn for M, a… [Read More]

Sewing Project: Mermaid Tail Blankets

I’ve been making lots of dolls at the moment, so I thought I’d mix things up a bit by making our twin girls a mermaid tail blanket each.  If you’ve not heard of these before, they’re  blankets that are kind of like sleeping bags, but in the shape of a mermaid tail, although they’re not as big as sleeping bags! I found a free pattern and tutorial online so I downloaded these and then headed to our local fabric shop to buy some fleece. I was hoping the girls would pick a plain fabric, but both girls opted for a… [Read More]
