Getting the garden ready for summer

Body warmer

Can you believe that Christmas has been and gone already? We’re into a new year and that also means we’re heading into the warmer weather, although I think we may still have a little while to wait before we can put our sun cream back on! Is it just me that has a huge stash of sun cream in their bathroom cupboard? One thing that I always look forward to at the start of a new year is making plans for the year ahead. This usually involves plans for my blog and work life, as well my own personal plans,… [Read More]

Please stop growing up!

Our embryos

It seems like only yesterday when your daddy and I first stepped foot inside the IVF clinic where we were to witness first-hand the amazing of creation of life. Your lives.  We feel so very lucky that we actually saw you both as embryos. How many other parents can actually say that? We held hands when we saw you both as an embryos back inside my uterus and we knew we were witnessing something so amazing. Something that not many people ever get to see. The pregnancy went well. I had no side effects really to talk of. Just slight insomnia… [Read More]

Teaching children to grow vegetables and other garden ramblings!

I’ve always been passionate about gardening. Even from a young age. I remember sitting at a table in my back garden one summer, happily sowing seeds and planting plants. I’d sat in the same place for a good few hours with the sun blazing down on my back. Despite the sunburn, I’d enjoyed spending that time getting back to nature. Every year for the past three years, I’ve grown vegetables and fruit from our garden. Every year, I’ve learnt something new and this year I’ll be growing more than ever before! I’m lucky that in our new house we have… [Read More]

Don't wish your baby's life away

All of a sudden my three year old twin girls seem very grown up. They can now climb up the climbing wall in the park all by themselves. They can walk across the wobbly chain bridge without me holding onto them. They can hold pretty intelligent conversations and they ask sensible, intriguing questions. Every morning they give me a joyful yes or a stern no if the outfit I pick out for them isn’t what they want to wear! They know their own minds. They know what they want and quite often they know how to get what they want!… [Read More]

Growing Strawberries Indoors and Outdoors

Back in April I planted some strawberry plants indoors and outdoors. 2015 has been the first year that I have made a proper effort toward growing my own fruit and vegetables. I’ve planted tomatoes, strawberries, potatoes, spring onions, herbs and salads. My girls have enjoyed helping to plant the seeds and water the plants with me. They’re really looking forward to being able to pick the fruit and vegetables when they’re ready. As mentioned above I planted some strawberry plants indoors in a medium sized pot and some outdoors in a large strawberry planter.  I was curious to see if the ones… [Read More]

You know it’s summer when…

…it’s time to get your garden spruced up! We were recently invited to take part in a competition to grow a sunflower plant.  I don’t know much about gardening, but that doesn’t stop me from giving it a go when equipped with the right garden tools! R and M recently helped me to plant some seeds in our new green house in a bid to start growing some salad and vegetables of our own.  Prior to this the only other type of gardening I’ve done was as a child when Mum or Dad would ask me to give them a… [Read More]

Growing appetites

Twin daddy and I took the girls to be weighed yesterday. M is now 14lb and a half. R is 16lb5 and a half. Over the past 2 weeks, well, certainly the last week, I have noticed that both our girls appetites have grown. They wolf down their breakfast and lunch, and even though they both have a snack between breakfast and lunch, and lunch and tea, I’ve noticed that quite often by lunch and tea time, they are both really hungry. The girls have a 4oz bottle around 5am, followed by porridge at 8am. I have increased the amount… [Read More]
