Coming up with ideas for your children’s birthday party can be a struggle. Our twins will be seven years old next year, and over the last six years they’ve had a real variety of parties.
For their first birthday, we had a small family gathering at our home. Subsequent birthdays have been more costly as they tend to involve hiring halls, bouncy castles and entertainers! Their sixth birthday, however, was a tad different.
Our girls decided that they wanted a birthday party at home with some of their school friends. This was music to my ears! No bouncy castles, soft play or halls to hire! As it turns out, a birthday party home was perfect because we ended up being snowed in! Luckily, most of the girls friends live locally so they all arrived by sledge! It was certainly one to remember! I can only imagine the distress if we’d booked a soft play centre as we wouldn’t have made it there due to the snow!
Anyway, for their seventh birthday, I’d like to do something similar. A themed party at home would be one to remember. Their sixth birthday wasn’t themed, but next year I’m thinking Fairies and Superheroes!
As regular readers know, our twin girls are complete opposites! R loves superheroes, and M loves fairies! In terms of food for the party, we’ll have the usual sandwiches, nibbles, crisps etc, but also some personalised sweets from Swizzels.
I particularly like the Personalised Love Hearts Birthday Party Sweets, and what’s even more impressive is that you can choose the colour of the wrapper. Perfect for us, as R would never dream of eating sweets with a pink wrapper! It’d just be far too girly for her! Thankfully, they do a blue wrapper which would also be great for boys party bags, and the pink ones for girls party bags if you wanted to do that!
I also think this Personalised Retro Sweet Hamper would make a great birthday present. M absolutely loves sweets so she would be in her element if she had this hamper all to herself, although I have to admit, I’d have my eye on the Rainbow Drops! I used to love those when I was a kid!
We could also use some of these sweets as prizes for party games such as in between the layers of pass the parcel or as a prize for the best dancer! There are lots of possibilities, and whatever we decide to do, I’m sure all the kids would have a great time!
