Slissie Electronic Slimming Aid Review

March 13, 2016
Trying to lose weight can feel like an uphill battle. When I was asked if I’d like to review a new electronic slimming device called Slissie, I was keen to find out more.

Slissie is marketed as an innovative and nifty little product whose aim is to help us stop unnecessary snacking. It’s not a drug or a diet, but claims it can help with weight loss by working with the body’s natural mechanism to help us create new, healthy behaviour that we’re comfortable with. Basically Slissie reaffirms your brain with a tasty burst of natural flavours, so you get that delicious taste without consuming the hefty calories.

When Slissie arrived, I was pleased with the packaging. The design was simple and the product was well protected. Inside the box you’ll find the Slissie stick along with three cartridges of different flavours, original, vanilla and fruit. There’s also a charging cable and instruction manual.

I like the blue/green colour of the Slissie. It’s lightweight and easy to hold, but I have to be honest as a non-smoker I was put off by the design. It looks like one of those vaping devices you can get to help you stop smoking and I didn’t really want to be seen as a smoker which I think is the impression I’d give off if using this in public. Sometimes the Slissie does create ‘smoke’ which has happened to me on a few occasions.

Aside from the design of the Slissie, I find the price tag a little off putting too. It’s £39.99 for the starter kit, which is what I received, and then if you need to buy refills this starts at £4.99.

When it comes to using the device, I just don’t get it. It charges quickly in just one hour which is good, but after trying all three flavours, original, vanilla and fruity, I’m quite disappointed.

To start using the device you need to press the smaller silver button five times quickly. The light will start to flash. You then need to hold the button down for four seconds to heat the liquid. You can hear the liquid heating which is reassuring to know that it’s working. You then need to wait two second before sucking, not inhaling, to receive a ‘burst of flavour’.

The original flavour is the one that I can taste the most, but even then I can barely taste it all. I find that if I suck as soon as I’ve held the button down rather than waiting the recommended two seconds, I get more taste, but still it’s almost like sucking on fresh air.

I really don’t like the vanilla flavour. It doesn’t taste like vanilla. In fact, I’m not sure what it tastes of, but I just know that I don’t like it! The fruity flavour isn’t very fruity and again, I can hardly taste it.

The idea is to use Slissie every time you have the urge to snack. So instead of snack, you simply use Slissie. I think it’s a great concept, but one that just doesn’t work for me. I also found that the cartridges didn’t last very long. Perhaps because in order to get some sort of taste, I’ve been using it too much, but then doesn’t that defeat the whole purpose?

It’s recommended that whilst carrying the Slissie when not in use that you have it in the ‘off mode’, which means you just press the button five times quickly again. I have noticed that the inside of the lid around the base has turned a little black, almost as though it’s burnt slightly which is also a concern to me.

Pros

Charges quickly
Nice design if you like it!
Lightweight

Cons

Looks like a vaping device smokers use and can create ‘smoke’ occasionally
Very little flavour
Heavy price tag

Overall, Slissie just isn’t for me. I love the concept behind it, but I just fail to see how it’d work.

For the purpose of this review I was sent one Slissie. All views and opinions are 100% my own.

What a waste of money, I love how these companies come up with diet aids or appetite suppressers. They must be making a fortune off people desperate to loss weight. As a non smoker I would not want to inhale anything. Good honest review x

It seems like a good idea, but i don't think i'd want to get one. I wonder if it actually does help people lose weight x

I just bought one and have used it for 2 days. (I’m also a non smoker) I think it’s psychological if you believe it works and have great will power. I’m not convinced personally. Your swapping food for slissie without it you would go back to snacking surely? I will see if I loose any weight and post back. X

Thanks for the honest review. I was contemplating one and was a bit unsure as they are only sweet flavour options (I don’t know about you, but if I’m craving crisps, then something sweet won’t do it). I think I’ll pass this time, and just stick to trying to eat less rubbish – it’ll save me cash in the long run!

I have been using this for afew months now and to be honest it has stopped me snacking. I stopped using it for afew weeks and I went back to old habbits so it’s an ongoing thing that you need to keep up really.
