5 Ways to Show Your Dad You Care Father’s Day is the perfect time toshow

March 14, 2016
Father’s Day is the perfect time to show your dad how much you mean to him. Of course, you can tell him what a top guy he is any time of year, but if it’s been a little while since you shared the love, use June 19th as your opportunity! If you’re a little stuck for ideas, don’t worry – you’re not alone, and as chance would have it, we’ve done the hard work for you
1. Cook for him

After so many school sandwiches and roast dinners prepped for you, turn the tables and make him a slap up meal at home. Invite your dad round for dinner and serve him something you know he loves… perhaps steak and chips, a hearty beef wellington or a spicy curry. Whatever the case, pull out all the stops: some music you can remember him listening to when you were a child, his favourite beer and a mouth watering desert, with an offer to drive him home or put him up for the night. That way he can really relax and enjoy his evening with you!
2. Design him a print

Photographs are a typical Father’s day present, but they’re popular for a very good reason! Why not take it a step further (and better) by putting together a canvas print or collage from PhotoBox? We love the quality and delivery time on this kind of gift, but best of all, it’s completely personal and relevant to him and your family. Whether it’s a montage of you and your siblings, childhood memories of holidays from many years ago, or recent photographs with him and your children, it ticks the Father’s Day box. It can be funny, sentimental, colourful or all of the above: we think he’ll love it!

3. Spend the day doing something he likes

A sincere way to show someone you really care about them is to hang out with them – by doing something they want to do. Are you a cinema buff but your dad’s more of an outdoorsy type? Swap your 3D glasses for a pair of walking boots and plan a day in the wild! You could go camping together or plan a mammoth bike ride. If you’d both prefer something more civilized, how about a round of golf before heading to the club house for a drink?
4. Share a new experience together

Doubtless you and your dad already have tons of great memories, and if you don’t, you’ll be hoping to create some new ones. Either way, why not book a new experience together? Spend some quality time doing something novel and exciting, like skydiving, space car racing or white water rafting.
5. Help him out around his house

Perhaps your dad used to be the jack of all trades, fixing the hinges, replacing the windows and sanding back the floorboards. But if he’s become a little too old to tackle it all on his own, offer to do some DIY for your old man. He’ll appreciate the effort, but best of all he’ll be comfortable with you doing it over a perfect stranger: you know his home, will respect his space and are probably familiar with where his tools are stashed!
